My Bff

by Ruth Phillips Oakland

When Control Freaks Collide...

Brilliant, handsome and born into a world of class and wealth, Fitzwilliam Darcy learned early that giving your heart came with a price even he could not afford to pay. Musical prodigy Elizabeth Bennet used the ghosts of her past to scare away all chances for love in her future. Sparks fly when they meet; but will Darcy and Elizabeth crash and burn, or can they overcome their fears through an unusual relationship and find a way to happily ever after?

Inspired by the characters of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, My BFF is a romantic comedy filled with intrigue, surprises and erotic interludes.

The title throws you off, and the story does not follow the original plot, but the characters are mostly the same, as well as characters from Jane A's other books added into he story. I enjoyed trying to remember which of her stories some of the characters were from. The author did a great job helping me connect with the characters. You could feel their passion for one another. I recommend it!

This highly recommended modern sequel features Darcy as the ultra wealthy playboy head of the Darcy Foundation and Elizabeth as a former child prodigy genius pianist turned college professor. Can these two lonely souls overcome their pasts and become best friends forever? Or can they be more? A very enjoyable, sexy read with some new twists on the characters we love to hate. Don't be put off by what I feel is a really bad cover and a somewhat cryptic title for someone not in the texting generation. I passed this one up several times because of the cover and title and wish I had read it much sooner. A definite must have for your P&P sequel collection.

This book was very well written, and the modern Darcy and Elizabeth are likable characters who are sexually attracted to each other right out of the gate. However, the premise, b.f.f., is that they decide to be friends instead of lovers. Well, you know it won't last, but it's a fun journey getting there. Unfortunately, towards the end, the novel goes off on a tangent involving drug dealers that is totally out of place in this story. This is a mature read because the love scenes are erotic and told with a lot of detail.

Really Great Read!!!! This is a really good modern retelling of P&P. I found myself gasping and hiding under the covers I was so scared during chapters 17 and 18. Then laughing in the next chapter, then getting misty in the following. I loved the chemistry between Lizzy and Darcy Ms. Oakland created. I only gave four stars because I would have liked to see more character development of the other characters like Georgiana and Richard and Geoff like I have seen other modern retelling authors do. But all and all this is a very good read, VERY ENJOYABLE! Highly reccomemend this book.
