I like this cover, but... I too have experienced the same problem as others who have written reviews. When the cover is flipped open and back for reading, this activates the magnetic sensor and makes the tablet believe the cover is closed. When this happens, the tablet goes to sleep. It is very annoying to have the tablet randomly go to sleep while reading. The problem is the magnetic sensor embedded into the top cover. The problem magnet is NOT the one that holds the cover closed (as other reviewers had thought). The problem magnet is about two inches from the corner, at the very top edge of the cover (The close sensor on the tablet is in the area right next to the USB port on the tablet.) I was able to take a razor and cut a slit right where the internal cardboard ends (when looking at the rubberized grey side of the cover. I was then able to slide out the small magnet. Now the tablet no longer randomly shuts off! On the flip side, the tablet does not automatically shut off when you close the cover either. To me this isn't a big deal, I just hit the tablet's power button before I close the cover. Subtract two stars for the magnet design flaw........ (I know not everyone will want to take a razor to a brand new case! But the slit is completely unnoticeable!) Aside from the design flaw of the cover's magnet, I do really like this minimalist cover. The cover is small and light and does not add much weight or bulk while holding the tablet for long reading sessions. I do not need something to prop up the tablet for watching videos... The cover's primary purpose is to protect the screen when I'm tossing this in a bag. This it does perfectly!

I was so excited to see a cover for my new nook was available. I had a cover on my old glowlight and it was awesome. This one is awful. I could not get the cover off to put on my charging station so had to get my husband to help. It took both of us pulling and tugging to finally get it off. I honestly was afraid I was going to break my nook getting it off. I also noticed the same problem as the other reviewers that my nook will randomly shut off while I'm reading. I think this cover is going to get returned. I liked that the glowlight offered lots of cover options to choose from but not so much with this one. Yeah, sorry BN you need to go back to the drawing board with this one.

I agree with the other reviewers. I just received my new nook as a gift for Christmas, the cover keeps shutting my nook off. Besides that it looks "tacky and cheap"! Nook used to have really nice covers with a large selection.

I really enjoy the feel of the case, but like two earlier reviewers stated the case is causing my Nook to randomly shut off. Half the time I set I set the Nook down on the table with the case open it shuts off. Very frustrating. I was thinking on buying the keyboard case, but I'm worried I'll run into the same shut down issue. Also, REALLY bummed that there is no way to prop up the Nook to watch videos. Seems like that should be a standard feature for any tablet case. I just may end up buying a third party case on Amazon.

I had the same problem. Took my case back and got another one. Same issue, very annoying. I removed the Nook from the cover. First I cut the little tab off. Then I covered the magnet, on the inside of the back of the cover, with 2 layers of cardboard. I cut the cardboard just a little bigger than the magnet and taped it down. The Nook still cuts off occassionally but it is so much better. I believe the magnet is too strong for this Nook.

I have had nothing but trouble with this cover for my new Nook it keeps shutting my nook off when I am reading. Needless to saay it is very annoying . So i removed the cover and yep I can read my book without being shut off. I really hope the will get a cover that will work well and keep my nook protected. Sincerly Sharon

The magnet in the cover for the 10.1 is exactly what is wrong and constantly shuts off the tablet. I also took mine out from the top, and it really is in the seam where the cardboard ends, right by the usb port, and now mine is fine also. Honestly, you would think B&N would be smart to see this, pull all inventory and replace covers for all of us who have purchased this.

Same problem with shutting off randomly while in cover. We even took off the black tape circle and removed the magnet but I still had the same problem. Maybe it's the material in the back part of cover vs. the Nook itself? The Nook 10.1 out of the cover works fine. B&N - Please solve.
