Behind every awful, dangerous decision lurks one evil beast: the Cool.
From politics to the personal, from fashion to food, from the campus to the locker room, the desire to be cool has infected  all aspects of our lives. At its most harmless, it is annoying. At its worst, it is deadly, on a massive scale.  The Cool are the termites of life, infiltrating every nook and cranny and destroying it from within. The Cool report the news, write the scripts, teach our children, run our government—and each day they pass judgment on those who don’t worship at the altar of their coolness.  The cool fawn over terrorists, mock the military, and denigrate employers. They are, in short, awful people.

From what we wear and what we eat, to what we smoke and who we poke, pop culture is crafted and manipulated by the cool and, to Greg Gutfeld, that's Not Cool.

How do the cool enslave you? By convincing you that:
- If you don't agree with them no one will like you.
- If you don't follow them you will miss out on life.
- If you don't listen to them you will die a lonely loser

How do you vanquish the cool and discover your own true self? Read this book.
In  Not Cool,  Greg Gutfeld, bestselling author of The Joy Of Hate, lays out the battle plan for reclaiming the real American ideal of cool—building businesses, protecting freedom at home and abroad, taking responsibility for your actions, and leaving other people alone to live as they damn well please.  Not Cool fights back against the culture of phonies, elitists, and creeps who want your soul. It’s not a book, it’s a weapon—and one should be armed with it at all times.

Greg Gutfeld is one of the best, brightest, and funniest writers of our time. Screw the "cool" elitest hipsters that have dragged our country down. Lucky for us to have Gutfeld who is not cool, just smart and insightful.

A great read. Chapter to chapter senarios that explain various ways the public is being duped by government, movie stars, sports figures, last but not least by our vision of self worth. Lots of laughs and my most favorite chapter was about DDT and bedbugs.

Brilliant, insightful, funny, singular...

The book is fun to read because Gutfeld writes like he talks. His examples are current and factual but written when added to his silly and sometimes sarcastic comments, he drives home a point without being dull.

Greg doesn't sugar coat or go the way of PC. He hones right in on the poo we all see everyday and he calls it poo. Refreshing and strangely uplifting! Thanks for the laughs and enlightenment, Greg!

Great book.  Gutfeld tells the real truth of how we're all being screwed by the government and all the "cool" people who bow down to  their socialistic ideas.  All with just the right amount of humor to help make a depressing subject a little bit funny!  This book just might wake up some "cool" folks if they have the balls to read it.

Haven't read this book yet, BUT if it's anything like the others he penned, I can already tell you it's hilarious and insightful. Greg's the best!

Oh Greg Gutfeld, you do make me laugh. Since I read this book 4 years after it was published, there were occasional references that were outdated, but the underlying ideas aren't. You'd think it would be common sense to avoid letting celebrities and social media dictate what's "cool", but sadly, it clearly isn't. I agree with most of what he put forth here (personally, I don't think Maroon 5 is THAT bad!) - so that obviously colors my opinion. There are plenty of folks who won't appreciate his musings. At all. Then again, they probably won't be reading the book anyway. Thanks to Netgalley and Crown Publishing for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review.

Many of us are shaking our heads these days at a society that seems upside down from the reality we once knew. We’re trying to make sense of things that don’t make sense and find ways to understand the world in which we now live. Is it left vs. right? Democrat vs. Republican? Socialist vs. Conservative? There are lots of lenses through which to look at our changing world. In “Not Cool” Gutfeld presents a unique way of seeing our culture – and particularly the way the media elites shape it. To them, “cool” is Dennis Rodman running around with a North Korean Dictator and the Weather Underground killing cops and setting off bombs and getting praised for it. In his typical acerbic style, Gutfeld shows that “cool” is killing us. “Cool” doesn’t get you a job, make a company competitive in the Global marketplace or keep our country safe. All the current definition of “cool” really does is create lazy people who have a sense of entitlement and privilege that they don’t deserve. This book will help you to understand how our country has gotten so screwed up and help you to do your part to turn it back around. I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

I loved, loved, loved, this book, read it everyone, the only people who don't like it are the people who think they are cool. Should be a must read for every high school student , so they know before they enter college, what crap is waiting for them at the academic level.

NOT COOL is intellectually provocative and unveils in no subtle fashion the superficial periphery we all know exists in the world. As a new author of a character-shaping book for children, his case against bullies and the “cool creed” resonates with me. I appreciated especially, the author’s ability to humor me. I spontaneously erupted with laughter at least a dozen times--I can’t recall a book that ever made me laugh like that. Unfortunately, plane co-passengers didn’t appreciate the humor quite as much. But, it did prompt some to ask what I was reading that was so funny. So Greg, I think you owe me one. Loretta Neff
