The gifts are innocent… at first.

After a traumatic assault, Hannah Novak returns to her home-town hoping for a fresh start. However, when strange gifts turn up on her doorstep, and a stalker fixates on her, she discovers that Blackbridge isn’t the safe haven it once was. With no family left to turn to, she’s forced to seek help from the brooding new cop in town.

Ryan Kilpatrick has travelled across the country to create a stable home for his young son, but being a police officer makes that hard. He doesn’t need Hannah’s problems added to his own, yet her courage and vulnerability awakens the protector in him.

With time running out, can Hannah learn to trust again before it’s too late?

Because this time, there are no second chances.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Pros: Boston's writing style is captivating. I couldn't put it down. There was a discussion about consent before sexual activity. Not a textbook main female character. Characters were realistic about threats and took reasonable precautions (dog, self defense, buddy system, etc) Did a good job tackling difficult real-world problems such as rape, domestic abuse (with the wife as a perpetrator), stalking, etc. I didnt guess the correct motive for the culprit. Cons: I guessed the culprit when first mentioned (though there were plenty of alternative options). Due to the style/story, parts of the story became repetative. The romance developed wwwaaaayyyy too quickly. Some character reactions seemed really off to me. I can't stand it when something happens to the dog, even when used as a plot point.

Really enjoyed this book and this storyline was great. Ryan is my hero, sorry he had horrific wife and mother for Felix. He deserves a second chance at love. Loved Hannah and her friends. Hannah had so much to deal with but also was given a real chance at HEA. Lots of suspense to keep you intrigued. Would definitely recommend and read more by this author.

I enjoyed this story and the characters, especially the group of best friends. Difficult topics were handled well although the romance happened way too quickly.

I have been a fan of Claire Boston since I read What Goes on Tour (LOVE you Adrian!) and so I’m always excited to get a chance to read one of her books. She does a great job of delivering not only a dang good love story but also creating a dynamic world full of interesting characters. Occasionally she likes to throw in some suspense or danger just to keep you on your toes ;) With Nothing to Fear we get a group of friends that have been together for decades and they are still there to support one another every day. That connection has helped prop up Hannah since her father murdered her mother and assaulted in college. She’s managed to keep the latter a secret but she’s relied on her friends to keep her going. Now there’s a threat and she going to have to face her past whether she’s ready or not. Ryan is new in town and finds himself drawn to Hannah. Obviously something has happened to her to make her so skittish but he’s such a patient man that he’s willing to wait her out. He’s had a history of his own so it helps him understand exactly what she needs. While the love story and Hannah coming to terms with her past is very well done, add in the mystery of who is leaving her gifts and I couldn’t turn pages fast enough! Boston does a great job of balancing both and keeping your attention until you get to the bitter end. It’s not an easy journey for Hannah but with her support in place and by listening to both her head & her heart she can overcome anything. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book.
