Considered one of the world's most beautiful beaches for its sugar white sand and emerald blue-green waters, Panama City Beach has, until recently, remained one of Florida's undiscovered treasures. First documented by Spanish explorers in the 1500s and later by the English, the region remained unsettled because of its inaccessibility and marauding renegade inhabitants. At a time when property was valued according to the crops it could grow, the beach was dismissed as a "no man's land" unsuitable for habitation. The early 1930s and the Hathaway Bridge, connecting Panama City Beach to the mainland, marked its "discovery" and the beginning of area tourism.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jan's book. It was like looking through an old family album filled with memories. This book shows the way Panama City Beach used to be, along with current attractions and the changing landscape of this well-loved family resort. It is a compilation of historic photos from the past, to the present. Jan did a great job capturing the essence of this beach town through the years. A wonderful addition to your library of vacation spots and travel books.

A delightful collection of historic and memorable photos from one of the best kept secrets in Florida--Panama City Beach. The variety of the pictures and the true life captions are almost like being there. A great book to take out at any time of the year and remember the warm sun and sugar white sands of one of the country's best vactation spots.
