Many, many years ago lived a good man named Noah. God told Noah to build a big wooden boat called an Ark, because a great flood was coming.
The Ark was going to be big enough for Noah's family and two of every animal-lions, giraffes, penguins, and many other animals.
When the great Ark was finished, God sent the animals to Noah two by two. Tame animals like cows, sheep, and horses came.
Wild animals like lions, tigers, and elephants came. When everyone was in the Ark, God let the rain begin.
It rained and rained for 40 days and 40 nights. Inside the Ark, Noah and his family tended to the animals.
When the rain stopped, Noah sent a dove to find land. It returned with an olive leaf, and Noah knew dry land was near.
Soon after that, when the water went down, Noah, his family, and all the animals left the Ark.
As a promise that He would never flood the earth again, God set a beautiful rainbow in the sky.
