Private Jack Morgan investigates the disappearance of the biggest superstar couple in Hollywood.

Thom and Jennifer Harlow are the perfect couple, with three perfect children. They maybe two of the biggest mega movie stars in the world, but they're also great parents, philanthropists and just all-around good people.

When they disappear without a word from their ranch, facts are hard to find. They live behind such a high wall of security and image control that even world-renowned Private Investigator Jack Morgan can't get to the truth. But as Jack keeps probing, secrets sprout thick and fast—and the world's golden couple may emerge as hiding behind a world of desperation and deception that the wildest reality show couldn't begin to unveil. Murder is only the opening scene.

I think the old guy had lost his edge. I am not what he likes to think that I,m a "fan", I'm not, I'm a customer. He is a business that had started treating us like wr are without choice. I am still upset about his part 1 short story. I think he should supply part 2, free for anyone who bought part 1.

Very poor story line and boring! James Patterson is losing his "magic" in writing! Do not waste your money in buying this book. Use to love his books and his writing style. Well, not any more. This is the 2nd book in a row that I have been disappointed in reading. He is just turning books out too fast, and the story lines do not have substance like his earlier books.

Reviewed by Maureen Timerman for Readers' Favorite Private L.A., by James Patterson and Mark T. Sullivan, is a heart in the throat, mind-boggling, grasp your seat, action packed book. Once you start you can’t let it go, and yes the main couple made me think of Brad and Angelina, or in this story, Tom and Jennifer. We have two main stories going on here, and a third in the background with Jack’s brother. Nothing is ever as it appears, or so it seems when delving into this book. Poor Justine, Jack’s right hand girl is now suffering from Post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD], and who wouldn’t with what happens to her. It rather makes you think of what our soldiers have been facing when they return home from the war zone. You will begin to wonder how anyone survives by the end of this book, there is so much action, and a lot of senseless killing, and it does come down to greed. This seems to be what the two primary themes are built on. First, non-existent people, huh? You will find out, oh yes, and people with no value of human life. The other is based on compassion, and doing good in the name of humanity, and yet is it all as it appears? We meet the adopted children of Tom and Jennifer, and their devoted staff, and wonder what is wrong with this perfect picture? Something is very shocking and sad. I love how, as the story unfolds, some of the tables become turned. So, if you're ready for a very action packed adventure and some serious situations, don’t miss this one. You feel like you are the one on the Pier, racing in a fast car, and being shot at various times. Enjoy!

The author tries to juggle too many unrelated subplots -- Famous Hollywood couple is missing, ex-military types swindle money from California, hero's brother and mobsters want to frame or kill him, female detective has PTSD and guilt issues. The author nearly pulls it off, although I'm still wondering if California's money was ever recovered. The BEST part? A surprise performance from a pistol-packing, NRA-trained, grandmother! The reason I read it? Female computer geeks from Cal Poly SLO. It was a good yarn!

I love James Patterson but this was just more of the same. I felt like it was repetitive, not really super interesting or surprising. I think he needs to slow down and put out a higher quality book.

An intense murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You'll get to know the killer, long before you realize who the killer is.....Twists and turns along the way which keeps you guessing.... some profanity though not as much as in other books by other authors. I couldn't put it down, even with the profanity which I did not appreciate.

This book was okay, but a little slow at times. The story was pretty good and there were the expected surprises. I'm not as fond of these Private books as I am the Cross books or the Women's Murder Club books. I enjoyed that this book was located in L.A. and I knew the ares that were mentioned.

I can always count on James Patterson for a good story. It's a little unbelievable, but still a good read.

AS usual unable to put book (Nook) down until finished and then wanted more. Easy read as all James Patterson's book are. Will be waiting for next Private book to come out. I also get all of James Patterson's books for the younger set for my Grandchildren which they love.

I enjoy this series by Patterson, and this was no exception. While it may have been a little predictable, it was fast paced and had enough plot twists to keep you interested.
