Private investigator Jack Morgan is on the hunt for a murderer in Las Vegas-and the murder ring he uncovers is unlike anything he's ever seen.

Las Vegas is a city of contradictions: seedy and glamorous, secretive and wild, Vegas attracts people of all kinds-especially those with a secret to hide, or a life to leave behind. It's the perfect location for Lester Olsen's lucrative business. He gets to treat gorgeous, young women to five-star restaurants, splashy shows, and limo rides-and then he teaches them how to kill.

Private Jack Morgan spends most of his time in Los Angeles, where his top investigation firm has its headquarters. But a hunt for two criminals leads him to the city of sin-and to a murder ring that is more seductively threatening than anything he's witnessed before. Chilling and marvelous, Private Vegas brings James Patterson's Private series to a sensational new level.

I HAVE BEEN A JAMES PATTERSON FAN FOR YEARS! This book was a serious disappointment. I didn't finish it -- read 3/4 of it, but realized it wasn't going anywhere.. I realized that I didn't know who the protagonist in the book was. There are 3-4 plots. I am accustomed to following a mystery, trying to figure out "whodunit". I got tired of reading and just didn't know what the heck was going on -- furthermore, I just didn't care. I agree with Debrow's post. Mr. Patterson, please write ONE GOOD BOOK a year, and by yourself. I'm feeling the magic anymore.

Very amateurish writing -- with a stupid ending no high school English teacher, let alone a college professor would put up with in student papers. I think Patterson's work (or whoever's it is) has definitely been going down hill. I'd rather have lots fewer books with better writing and plots -- no more junk. I've never written a review before, but this is a new low for someone that used to be a name you could trust in writing--needs calling out

I love the Private series and characters. This book was all over the place jumping from one plot line to another. Not much of the story took place in Vegas. Dumb ending. I still like the Private characters, but thought this wasn't up to the snuff of the previous books.

Besides the headline, the story has little to do with Vegas spending much more time in LA. Does not live up to expectations.

I enjoy the "Private" books, but this one was so-so. It was called Private Vegas, but there was very little to do with Vegas and a predictable continuation of Private LA.

This is formulaic wirh gratuitous far-fetched threads of violence has norhing to do with las vegas except patterson's ghostwriter looked up some streets.on google.maps and got the name of the airport right I do not recommemd.

After the disappointment of "Private India" and " Private Vegas" should Mr. Patterson and Coauthor throw another strike with "Private", the series is off my reading roster. Perhaps it's time to listen to your fans Mr. Patterson and get back to turning out major league hits written in the homerun style we've come to appreciate in you rather than continuing to turn out these minor league efforts that leave long time fans ready to hit the road during the 7th inning stretch. For those confused by the baseball comparison, given this recent Patterson effort has nothing to do with baseball, you'll understand my confusion, should you chose to read this book, of "Vegas" as a title for a book having relatively nothing to do with Vegas. I found this outting to be fragmented, confusing and at times downright boring.

Another bad Private book. Amateurish writing with several different plots that just plodded along. The whole storyline of Jack and his brother is getting old; the beginning chapter with a character that has nothing to do with Private was dumb; Las Vegas wasn't even part of the storyline. Not as bad as Private India but close, very close. Rather than drag several unrelated stories along for 350+ pages, just stick with one storyline, keep the writing tighter and develop a good plot. Did a beginning how-to-write class write this book? Last Private book I'll read.

Huge disappointment - should have been called Private LA - i am still not sure what the story line was - seemed to be a few different stories rolled into one. i was dying for the book to come out - and now i'm not sure i'd even read the next one!!

I agree with every negative comment below, and wonder if the readers who gave it a positive rating actually read this book. Extremely disappointing. I will definitely wait for reviews before jumping to read another Patterson/actual authors books.

I have read almost all of Patterson's books but this is the first one i have quit reading. I don't like courtroom mysteries and this seems like the same old stuff! Seems like he wrote it in a hurry because there is nothing new in it.

I thought this was a good read. I felt like it should have been titled something else, though. I thought the story, itself, was good.
