Overview

Mia Kazmaroff has a gift nobody wants. She's able to tell the story behind any object simply by touch. It's a gift that comes in handy when her only brother, a detective with the Atlanta Major Crimes Division, is murdered. Determined to find his killer, Mia reaches out to the one person in Atlanta she believes can help her—Dave's partner, Jack Burton. Unfortunately, Burton is also the prime suspect.
Together, Mia and Jack create a partnership that breaks all the rules, skirts every law, and lobs as many sparks and landmines at each other as if they were adversaries–which half the time they are—all while attempting to ignore their undeniable mutual attraction.
Can two people so different—one intuitive and inexperienced, the other cynical and by-the-book—work together to solve the murder?

And can they do it before the killer turns his attention to Mia?

Nothing lurid, overly sexy or perverted. No gore. No profanity or relgion. A few editing mistakes, but nothing major. A touch of paranormal. I enjoyed this murder mystery. Recommend. 18 and up. Part of a series. 210 pages. Excerpt of next book, RUTHLESS. AD

It's hard for me to understand why this book got good reviews here. There is so much emphasis by the male characters on the physical characteristics of the women in this book (particularly the protagonist), and so much cattiness between the women characters, it's hard to believe a woman wrote this book. The domestic abuse references are so poorly written that the author would have done a service to all us survivors to have just left that out. The way she wrote it, she trivialized what women go through. The characters are not well-developed, and are all cartoonish in their language and behavior. Every scene is melodramatic, and the protagonist (Mia) is a pushy, entitled, vapid character who elicited no sympathy from me whatsoever. The male main character - Jack - is a middle-aged (or so it seems, it's not very clear) depressed, ill-tempered ex-cop who spends a lot of time thinking about sex. These two dunderheads are going to team up (because the guy is an idiot who inexplicably quit his job as a cop right before retirement, thus losing his benefits) and solve a murder ?? I was trying to get through this, however, because it was free and I like to at least try to finish books I start - and then there was a glaring mistake that was so unnecessary that it could only be due to the author's laziness - the drug rohypnol is referred to as 'ecstasy' by both main characters AND by the medical examiner who finds the drug in the victim's system. Come on, now. Anyone, if they don't know what 'ecstasy' is (MDMA) can at least Google it to see. The author was just lazy. And it ruins the story. No medical examiner would make a mistake like that. I don't want to give away the plot but the reason MDMA comes into the story is ridiculous and nonsensical - as in, how did Mia even know what drug to look for (since she's not into drugs), how did she know where to look, and from whom to buy it? That isn't a part of her 'special gift', and it's not adequately accounted for at all. The book sad to say, is amateurish at best, with sex thrown in 'just because'. I won't be finishing it.

Decent plot but unrealisric. Lots of emphasis on sex.

This book was just ok. It was so highly improbable that it took away from the story. I expected this to have quite a lot of paranormal or extra sensory parts to it but it has very little.

I had a hard time liking Mia, half the time she came across like a spoiled teenager. Time seemed off too.... 15 years on police force, but was in Iraq seven years ago.... what semed like next morning but inreal life needed two weeks... hard to explain but I kept feeling lost in time. I liked the paranormal but it didn't seem to help a lot. Lol

Good storyline, but to fall in love so quickly, and start a business with someone on the day you meet them is not believable.

Plot line is interesting, but character developement not up to the standard of other series by this author. Language is definitly NOT that bad, so don't let other review stop you.

Couldn't read because of the constant bad language. I do not wish to keep my mind in the gutter while I read this book.
