Overview

Just as the walls start to come down, boundaries redefine, and things heat up, tragedy hits the small mountain town of McKenzie Ridge.

Sexy EMT Dawson Tayler made hearts break, and panties melt with a single look. Far from home, in the charming tourist town, he lives a simple life his family would be appalled by - if they were alive. Dawson suddenly finds his satisfying life, emotionless as it was, changing the night he nearly loses her.

The storming ball of fire, that is Nurse Sam Taylor, defined the word fighter. At five feet and a handful of inches, beautiful Sam was kind, giving, and a complete hard ass. Abandonment was a lesson Sam learned early on, leaving her with a hardened heart as a result. Men were as necessary as a hang nail and weren't part of her plan, until him.

After months of shameless flirting, and generating steam everyone in their circle could see but them, the unlikely couple agreed to a friend's only breakfast that turned into every morning - for weeks. Committed to the single life, this was not a relationship, and they definitely were not dating.

Does Dawson's past and present collide and ruin what they have built? Will her secret be the deal breaker that ends this affair, before it even begins?

Their steamy romance rushes through suspenseful twists, turns, and malice. Will Dawson and Sam find a happily ever after, or, is there someone else lurking in McKenzie Ridge trying to destroy it all?

A really great suspenseful romance filled with humor, mystery and a little steamy love. I enjoyed the story of Sam, Dawson and the residents of McKenzie Ridge. Stephanie St. Klaire's way with words pulled me into the pages right from the start and took me on a great ride. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Aggh, I only found out I was reviewing this yesterday and my review date was today! So I have to confess that I have not read it all, but I am half way through and so far it is brilliant. I can't wait to read the rest later today after work. Update: This book did not disappoint. Full of romance, sex and suspense. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

MAN!! That was AWESOME. This author just snuck in and nailed it. There are little hints here and there that more is going on but that's all there is at least in the suspense part of the story. This love thing tales them both by surprise and on it's on is a great story but add in the back story and the suspense and how it all plays out and you have a winner. I have read some of this authors other work but nothing prepared me for this. I need more and will be reading more especially about the peeps of McKenzie ridge and the ones who tame their rugged ways. The main characters are awesome but I gotta tell you the kid and Grams still the show. I laughed so hard at the conversations between Dawson and Ellie as they get to know each other and Gram with her drink and innuendos keep it light. But the secrets and pain and the suspense knock it out the park. You gotta read it and I gotta read the next book in the series.

I loved Dawson's journey of falling for Sam. If you like romantic suspense and love a hero that is charming, protective and an all around great guy, then you will love Rescued. I liked the secondary characters of McKenzie Ridge as much as the main characters and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Wow! I was surprised that this was a debut novel by this author! I can honestly say that I was hooked from the beginning. This book is a slow and steady burn. The characters are well developed and the supporting cast is also well developed. There is also some time change chapters between past and present, which I really like. I can see future books being written from the close group of friends from the hospital and the House, the facility that houses the fire department, police and EMT’s. Where can you go with wrong with sexy firemen, policemen and EMT’s? Dawson and Sam both had relationship issues and didn’t want commitment, but there was something there that they couldn’t deny. They were beginning to really get to know each other after weeks of flirting and breakfast non-dates. The chemistry between these two is out of bounds! They finally are actually trying to give the relationship a try when tragedy strikes! Sam is in a car accident. Dawson is part of the emergency crew on the scene and his heart drops. He was starting to have real feelings for Sam. This couldn’t be happening. He was finally given a chance to date this beautiful woman. She is taken to the hospital and is in a coma with multiple serious life-threatening injuries. Then Dawson is given a huge shock that he didn’t see coming. Sam was always private and didn’t reveal much about her life. But he didn’t expect her to have a 4-year-old daughter, Elliot Louise Taylor or Ellie Lou as she was known as. Sam’s family is a mess. Her father left when Sam was a baby and her mother went from man to man and didn’t want Sam. She had a best friend Evie, and her grandmother Louise took care of Sam when her mother left her. So Evie was her best friend and surrogate sister and Lou her grandmother. Ellie’s father bailed when she told him she was pregnant. She was done with men and relationships. Dawson lost his affluent family in a plane crash 10 years ago. He didn’t fit in with his father’s plan to take over the family business. He feels guilty for not being on that plane that day and vowed he wouldn’t get close to anyone again. He had plenty of women that wanted him, but he wanted no attachments or commitment. Until Sam. There is also twists of mystery and suspense to keep you at the edge of your seat, as it seems that Sam’s accident was possibly not an accident after all. There are multiple mysterious things that are happening to Sam, and it has the close group of friends in McKenzie Ridge working hard to figure out if they are related to Sam’s accident. I won’t give you anymore because you need to read this sexy sweet heat, slow burn novel! The only issue I had with the book is that it was a little redundant in places, but overall, it was a great debut novel by a new up and coming author!

Excellent choice! This is the first book in the McKenzie Ridge series by Stephanie St.Klaire. The book start out with action that immediately grabs your attention and holds your attention throughout the book. Sam Taylor is a emergency room nurse at the hospital in McKenzie Ridge. Dawson Tayler is an EMT in the same town. The story begins with a severe motor vehicle accident that Dawson has been dispatched to for the EMT's. Sam was trapped in the car that was mangled. Dawson needs to set aside his feelings for Sam so that he can help her get to the hospital. Before the accident, neither Sam or Dawson dated other people. They are both perfectly happy to enjoy the single life. Dawson tells Sam that they are going to go to dinner. Sam does not want to date, and Dawson makes sure to tell her that this is not a date. Sam refuses to go out to dinner with Dawson. They compromise and go to breakfast. They start going to breakfast on a daily basis. Enjoying one another's company on a daily basis. Granny Lou and Everly became Sam's family when her mother left her in McKenzie Ridge. Granny see's the couple at Bakers and loves to spread gossip. Granny knows that Dawson and Sam would make beautiful babies. Granny is a spunky, no filter kind of person. Everly is also a nurse at the hospital. Sam and Dawson finally get to go out to dinner. The sexual tension can be cut with a knife. Dawson even brought Sam daisies. Sam enjoys Dawson taking charge and making Sam feel like he is taking care of her. They enjoy a BBQ dinner and go to the Pump House for dancing. Leaving the Pump House, they head to Bear Creek for some quiet time. With a blanket and the creek running, they make love by the creek. Back to the morning after the accident, Dawson is awoken by a little girl. Dawson is still holding Sam's hand. The little girl loves to wear tutu's, but cannot wear her pink tutu when she plays football. She introduces herself as Elliot Louise Taylor, she is four years old, and her mama is sleeping. Dawson wants to return the child to her mother so that she is not missed. Elliot grabs his hand and says my mama is right here. She is sleeping because she had an accident and her head hurts. Sam, is her mom! Dawson had no idea that Sam had a child. Dawson continues to come to the hospital every day while Sam is in a coma. Bringing dinner and treats to Granny and Elliot. Elliot and Dawson are becoming friends. Weeks later, Sam finally wakes from her coma. She is confused and not sure what has happened. She thought she had only been asleep one night, not seven weeks. The book continues with a few twists and turns that I will not share here, as I do not want to share spoilers. This is an excellent beginning to the McKenzie Ridge series. You will not be disappointed with the book.

I loved this story from the moment I started reading it until I finally finished it. The attraction between Sam, a nurse, and Dawson, an EMT, was palpable and fiery. Neither of them date for their own personal reasons, and they fight their attraction until they couldn't anymore. When they finally decide to see what this is all about, something happens that could bring the entire thing down on their heads, destroying not only their budding relationship but their lives. I'm not one to give away much in my reviews, so that's all you'll get from me. Read the book...it's worth the price and the time. I was so impressed with the story telling abilities of this author. It was fantastic! I remember buying the book in April and thinking I'd get to it sooner or later. I finally read it and got so wrapped up in it that I couldn't put it down until I finished it at 5 am. It was sweet and romantic with a little bit of sex thrown in. It was dangerous and exciting from the first page until the last. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

Goodness, I was surprised by this story. What a wonderful way to start a series and with the surprise ending, the reader is then wanting to get their hands on the next book. This new writer(to me) is now on my to-buy list from now one. Bravo!
