Overview

An in-depth history of the "Satanic ritual sex abuse" panic of the 1980s and 1990s.

Communities throughout the United States were convulsed in the 1980s and early 1990s by accusations, often without a shred of serious evidence, that respectable men and women in their midst—many of them trusted preschool teachers—secretly gathered in far-reaching conspiracies to rape and terrorize children. In Satan's Silence, Debbie Nathan and Mike Snedeker examine the forces fueling this blind panic.

An excellent book debunking the ritual abuse cases of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Includes extensive information about the problems with recovered memories.

Kenneth Laining, a conservative Christian F.B.I. agent, investigated 200+ cases of "occult crime". He started out with the assumption that there was occult crime (as a Christian, he belived in Satan's power), and ended up concluding that SRA was untrue. There was nonetwork ofbreeders, Satanic (in the sense of literally worshiping evil as opposed to LeVey's church of Satan which should have been called the church of drugs, sex and mndless hedonism)high priests , sacrifice of babies, etc. Sorry, Christians, but one of your own disproved this modern myth. Great book revealing the human cost of recovered memories which sent innocent people to jail.

How terribly sad for all of the suffering victims of ritual abuse. As a parent of childen who were sadistically ritually abused it is extemely painful to see the truth discredited by people who lie and fail to acknowledge all of the facts and proof that is out there today. Society would rather bury their head in the sand than to face the truth and save hurting innocent people. Shame on you.
