“Say & Pray” is a very cute beginner’s Bible for toddlers. It has a total of 20 stories in the book: 10 from the Old Testament and 10 from the New Testament. All of the stories should be familiar to anyone who has spent much time in Sunday School or youth group – Creation, Noah & the Ark, Joseph & his coat of many colors are just a few from the Old Testament. Some from the New Testament are the Birth of Jesus, the Good Samaritan, and Jesus’ Resurrection. The illustrations are nice and child-like. I like the “word balloons” with single words describing animals, objects, & people. This point-and-say method is very easy for a toddler to grasp. The actual construction of the book is quite nice as well. The pages are thick cardboard and easy to turn. “Say & Pray Bible” would make a nice gift for new parents and great introduction to Bible for toddlers. (rev. My two year old son is at that stage where he loves to point out everything around him. All day long he is pointing and naming things and I am affirming, "Yes, that's a dump truck" or "Yes, those are animals" (you get the idea). So when I heard about the Say and Pray Bible, I thought it would be a great book to add to his collection. Upon receiving the book, there were several things I appreciated about it. I felt the book was well constructed with toddlers in mind, especially its size and sturdy pages. The illustrations are colorful and playful without being over the top. A cool feature about this book is how various objects are labeled on each page, giving young children an opportunity to point and name objects while reading. The book includes 20 familiar Bible stories (although each story is only one or two sentences long). It also includes a "Say and Pray" section with a Bible verse and a short prayer. In my opinion, this book would work best as a tool to introduce your young child (toddler aged) to some familiar Bible stories, as well as reinforcing language skills and new words. It would be important to expand on the stories and concepts as children get older (preschool aged). For us, I think it will be used less like a Bible and more as fun board book to point out objects and people from the Bible. That said, it is a cute little book and a fun one to read with your little ones, especially if yours like to point things out as much as mine does!
