War still hovers over America like a dark winter cloud but it can't stop the love Malcolm and Sarah have for one another. After many changes of date and changes of plan their marriage is finally set for Saturday, February 14th, 1863 - Valentine's Day. Since the man giving her away is her uncle Stonewall Jackson the guests at the wedding include a virtual who's who of the Army of Northern Virginia, including such luminaries as Robert E. Lee and Jeb Stuart. Everyone is doing their best to get Seven Oaks ready for the celebration, but even with so many doing their best and trying their hardest Sarah is still worried they will not be ready in time for the hundreds of well-wishers who will soon be descending upon the old Virginia plantation.

Although war has taken them far apart, the love between Sarah and Malcolm still blossoms. Through letters, Malcolm declares his love and expresses his hope to be able to return to Seven Oaks soon to marry Sarah. Finally the date is set for February 14, 1863. Sarah is so excited—as every young lady should be when her wedding day is drawing nearer. Seven Oaks is being prepared for the wedding. Some surprising guests are showing up—generals and other people who Sarah has not seen for a long time. It promises to be a beautiful day on which the war can be forgotten for a little while. Murray Pura writes a wonderful story that takes place during the Civil War; with engaging characters, a believable storyline, interesting historical facts, and - of course - romance! *This is chapter 5 in the Seven Oaks series - make sure to read the 4 previous volumes first.*
