Overview

New York Times bestseller

Who are you when life is steady?

Who are you when storms come?

Most of us have been on the receiving end of rejection, a broken dream, or heartbreak. And while this is not an easy space to go through, when we are grounded in the truth, we can endure the tough times.

In this powerful book, Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow passionately shares glimpses of his journey staying grounded in the face of disappointment, criticism, and intense media scrutiny. Following an exceptional college football career with the Florida Gators and a promising playoff run with the Denver Broncos, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets. He was released after one season.

In Shaken, named the 2017 Christian Book of the Year, Tebow talks about what he’s learned along the way, building confidence in his identity in God, not the world. This moving book also features practical wisdom from Scripture and insights gained from others who have impacted Tebow in life-changing ways.

Though traveling hard roads is not easy, it’s always worth it!

Your Circumstances do not Define You,
Your Identity Does.

What do you do when life takes an unplanned detour? When the unexpected happens? When doubt or negativity tries to rise above your faith? Most of us can relate to these questions.

Through a dynamic lens of story and insight, Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow tells what he’s learned during the highs and the lows of his journey in the NFL. Shaken also features practical wisdom from the pages of Scripture and moving narratives of individuals—from celebrities to cancer patients—who have impacted Tebow’s life. Their inspiring stories will encourage you also to tackle fear, overcome bitterness, and take on the obstacles life throws at you.

Read an Excerpt

I’m grateful for the life experiences I’ve had—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Sure, I’ve had my ups and downs. As I’ve done things a little bit dif- ferently, the world has tried to force me onto a roller coaster of identities, defining me by my circumstances and not who I really am.

Was my identity found in the highs when I won the Heisman and later when the Denver Broncos were making a play-off run? No. Was my identity found when, a year later, I was cut? No.

One day, according to the world, I’m on top of my game, adored, praised, and respected. And the next, I’m at the bottom of the heap, cut, criticized, and torn down. You know what I’ve learned in the process? How important it is not to allow either the highs or the lows in life to determine who you are.

It’s tempting to define ourselves or to measure our worth by the external—by how much money we have, by how we look, by the applause of others. The list is long. Think about this. Who are you when everything is going great—when the money is in the bank, when your home life is peaceful, when your future seems certain? And who are you when your world is shaken—when your bank account is overdrawn, when your relationship is on the fritz, when you haven’t a clue what tomorrow holds? Sometimes it takes a challenging time to really find out.

While many know about my career highs, few know the details about the lows. Like having to learn that God’s plans are better and bigger than mine, feeling torn about the future, and working through my dreams being shattered after getting cut from three NFL teams. I admit, writing this book hasn’t been easy. It was tough to relive some painful moments. But I’ll say that in those places of doubt and even of darkness, I’ve realized that who I am has nothing to do with wins or losses, applause, or negative criticism. It has to do with whose I am. Knowing this, I can live out what the king of ancient Israel wrote in Psalm 16:8:

I have set the Lord continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

While in this book I share parts of my personal life and football journey in the NFL, this is not a memoir. It’s about the truth I’ve discovered along the way. And, it’s also about some amazing people I’ve been inspired by in life as well as through our foundation’s W15H (pronounced “wish”) outreach pro- gram. Though our mission is to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need, they have, without fail, given those very things to me. While I wish I could tell you about every single child and family I’ve met who has inspired me, I’m excited to be able to share a few stories with you.

Here’s what you can expect to find in this book. The first seven chapters will reveal some of the lows I’ve experienced, glimpses into my life and parts of myself that I’ve never shared publicly. They’ll also uncover the lessons I’ve learned through that time, like what it means to stay grounded in the face of doubt, fear, and criticism; why others matter; and how our objective in life is not to be like everyone else.
The final three chapters move in an outward trajectory, focusing on how we can impact others in our journey of faith and purpose. When we are grounded in whose we are, not only can we handle the storms that come, but we can also begin to move forward in a more purposeful direction. We can begin to live in a new way. We can impact others even when our circum- stances look bleak. We can use our stories to help others in their own.

Look, I’m not perfect. I’m on a faith journey just like you are. I have good days. I have bad days. Sometimes I get it right. Other days I struggle. I know that when I’m settled in my identity, I live at my best.

While this book doesn’t offer cookie-cutter answers or a concrete plan about what to do when you stand on shaky ground, my prayer is that it strengthens your faith, gives you hope, and shines light on your dark places. My prayer is that after reading this book, you can walk away inspired, armed with courage, ready to tackle life, and make a difference.

Q&A with Tim Tebow

Q1: What does your book's title Shaken mean to you? Why did you choose it?
The reason I titled it Shaken was because in life you're going to have highs and lows. There are going to be great times, and there are going be tough times. So, who was I when I won the Heisman Trophy versus when I got cut three times, well, maybe four times in the NFL? Was I the person that was praised by presidents or the person that was debated and scrutinized by most of the media? So, who was I? Am I that person who I was at the high or am I that person who had all those lows?

I'm so thankful because of my relationship with Jesus Christ and being adopted in the family of God that I don't have to live the highs and the lows and the roller coaster that the rest of the world lives because I know where my identity lies. My identity lies as a child of God, and that is something that will never be shaken.

Q2: Why did you decide now was the right time to share some of these personal experiences?

It's something that God put on my heart. I've been traveling for the last three or four years speaking all over and being able to see so many people in today's society that are searching for a firm foundation. They're searching for identity, and I feel like this book is about identity, about not being shaken. To have a firm foundation as a child of God is something that so many people are longing for and wanting because they're searching for something more. There's got to be more out there. What is it? Well, I can tell you what it is. It's a relationship with the God of this universe, who loves you so much. That's what is it. That's what you're searching for. That's what you're longing for, and that's what you need.

Q3: You've had to deal with issues of self-identity, such as fear, doubt and criticism on a much bigger scale than most of us. What is the biggest lesson you've learned?
I'm a people pleaser by nature, and I want to make everybody happy. But at the same time, it's not fulfilling to make everybody happy. What is fulfilling is to stand for something that's right. Now that doesn't mean you're going to be perfect. We're going to fall and we're going to mess up every day, but we can at least try to stand for something. When you stand for something, then you won't fall for everything else around you. For me, my goal is to be able to impact as many people as possible for something good, for something right, to be able to leave a legacy of something bigger than myself—not for winning games, not for scoring touchdowns, but that Jesus Christ has changed my life. You can love God, and you can love people. There is more to this world than money, fame and power. You can have an impact, no matter who you are, no matter what platform. No matter how big or small of a role model, there is someone watching you. There's a life that you can change. There's a life that you can impact.

For me, it's to be able to see that every life matters. Every life matters—no matter where, no matter how big, no matter how small. I've been able to see that in so many of the trips that we've taken around the world. That has been something that has been so eye-opening to me. I share that concept with everyone I come in contact with, so that we can unite around people. We can unite around one nation under God here, and we can unite that everybody matters. I think in this day and age right now, it's important. People need to be able to see something bigger than themselves.

Q4: How do the things you've learned about identity differ from what our culture teaches?
Wow, I think our culture right now is a culture that is trying to find itself. They are trying to figure out what is it? Is it social media followers? Is it trying to be popular? Is it money? Is it fame? Is it power? They are searching for identity and so many of us have been there, and we'll get back to that place of what is our identity? Who are we? More importantly, whose are we? For me, I find my identity in a relationship with Christ.

I've also seen that in so many of my role models. So many people that have gone before me that I've been able to see, wow, I want what he has. I want what she has. I've seen what they have and wow, they have peace no matter where they're at. They have assurance no matter what they're going through. It was fun in this book to be able to highlight role models of mine that have been able to find a firm foundation in whose they are no matter what life throws at them.

Q5: What does it mean to you to stay grounded?
I think staying grounded is one of the hardest things we will ever do in our lives. How do you stay grounded?
It's always back and forth. To be able to stay grounded, we need to live with open hands that everything that we have has been given to us by the Creator of this universe. He can take it, and He can give it back to us. He can take some things, and He can give us new things. When a door closes, a new one is going to open.

Where we start to lose it is when we start to grasp onto what we think is ours. No, this is mine. No, that is my career. That's my money. That's my platform. But really, no, it's Yours, God. It's not mine. You might lend it to me for a little while. You might let me hold onto it. You might let me use it for a little bit, but that's not mine; it's Yours. Thank You for letting me use that for a little while. I think that's what staying grounded means.

Q6: In what ways have you found reaching out to others as an important part of the process of getting and staying grounded?
Ah, I think it's huge. I think that's what the church really is. It's not a building. It's not the logos out front. It's not the denominations that we're part of. No, it's the people that we get to do life with. It's the people that have courageous conversations with us. It's the people that love us. It's the people that invest in us. It's the people we get to do life with. And we also get to share with them. It's being able to have those people in our lives who we're able to inspire and they're able to inspire us. When we're down, they pick us up. When they're down, we pick them up. Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Q7: How important is serving others to your identity?
Well, I feel like the closest that we get to fulfilling our calling is making a difference in other people's lives. I feel like it's different for everybody. Our purpose and our calling are different. We're all called to do different things. But some way, somehow, it has to be impacting other people. If not, what are you doing? How does it have an impact? How does it have an eternal impact? It has to be investing in other people, somehow making a difference in their lives. When we do that, I really believe that we will fulfill why we're here and what we're supposed to do.

Tim Tebow's unwaivering love of God and his deep faith are an example of how I want to live my life. I have already recommended this book to many and so blessed to have read it . A must read.

This book gives us the foundation for living in a world that is often so confusing. Tim ' simplistic view of God first reveals the urgency that we as Christians must return to this simple truth.

I am sure you have heard of Tebowing and seen photos of the ‘John 3;16’ written in eye black in the NCAA National Championship game in January 2009 to draw attention to this verse of scripture. This worked pretty well as over 94 million people Googled this verse during that game. What happened exactly 3 years later in a playoff game between Denver and Pittsburgh is a part of this story you probably have not heard. It is pretty amazing too. I was fortunate to be selected to be part of the launch team for Shaken by Tim Tebow in exchange for my honest review. I have read Shaken and my honest review is what you are now reading. Tim Tebow is why you are aware of these two phenomena. In Shaken, Tim Tebow’s second book, you will learn interesting facts about these two events he is known for but much more about who Tim Tebow is and what makes him tick. One of the categories this book is listed under is Christian Living and you will learn more about Christian Living from his life experience, much he has never shared before. This is not a biography but does contain biographical glimpses from his young life so far and his perspective or the rest of the story behind these experiences. If you are a Tim Tebow fan you will want to read this book. It begins describing his gut-wrenching kick in the teeth when he was cut from the New England Patriots and his story weaves back and forth through his career on the field and his off the field activities which will have a much more lasting effect on those involved and you as well after you read and learn more about those. The title of the book is taken from this scripture verse, “I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8 If you have followed his career you know he has had many opportunities to be shaken. When you read this book you will see he has been shaken but his life is about much more than the public perception as portrayed in the media. How he has responded to these life events is inspirational and will give you hope. His message of good news and his faith journey might change your life. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the book. “If we can understand everything about the God we serve, what kind of god would that be?” “There will always be people in your life who will underestimate your potential, say that you'll never reach your dream or make that goal, or try to hold you back in some way.” “It might surprise you to know that some of the deepest wounds I've experienced have come from fellow Christians.” “Don't get sidetracked by those who don't believe in you or by those who don't understand what it is you are doing. Whenever you dare to do something different, critics of some sort are bound to show up.” I encourage you to get Shaken today. As you read and learn how Tim Tebow has faced the challenges in his life this knowledge will help you face the challenges as they arise in your own. P.S. As I mentioned at the beginning I was fortunate to be on the launch team for this book. That does come with a copy of the book before the release date so we can read it and write our honest reviews. I did that. However, after reading it, I have bought more copies to give away. That is the best endorsement I can give. Join me and get your copy or copies today. It will make a great gift.

Shaken is stories from Tim Tebow on how he was able to overcome hard and trying times in his life. While we get a more intimate look at Tim's life, he also shares stories of other people that are going through some rough times that had an impact on Tim as well. While he shares these stories, he also gives a deeper look into his faith and how your faith can get you though anything. I have to admit that I wasn't a huge Tebow fan when he was playing college football due to him being a Gator but I did love how he was willing to put his faith and religion on the football field when you don't see that very often. This book is everything what Tim holds to be true and even though this book is supposed to be about Tim, it's more of what and who shaped his faith with other people's stories that made an impact on Tim. If you love what Tim stands for, you need to read this book on how a simple thing like keeping the faith will do to a person! Thank You to Tim Tebow for having a book that isn't just about your faith but the people and things happened in your life that make you, you! I received this book from Blogging For Books in exchange for a honest review.

I was selected to receive an advance copy of this book to read and review. This book wasn't what I expected. I expected it to be autobiographical, and that's not what it is. While I'm not a fan of Tim Tebow's in regards to sports, I do very much admire that he is a man of great faith and is not afraid to share that faith. That was an aspect of this book that I really enjoyed. Tim shares his heart and his faith. He has great words of wisdom that even when things are tough, God is there. He knows what he's doing, and He has a plan. I really liked reading about Tim's background in his faith and how he continues to grow in his relationship with Christ. I wish that I we more excited to read the book, though. I had to push myself to pick it up and read because it was part of my commitment to do so. I didn't like that the book seemed to jump around and wasn't very organized. I almost think I might have liked this more as an audio book since it read like someone might speak at a public event. I also didn't like how Tim would state that he would talk about something more in another chapter. For example, he would make a statement about something and follow it up (usually in parentheses) by saying that he would talk about that more in another chapter. As an avid reader, I don't need a warning about what's to come. Foreshadowing is one thing, but I'm going to keep reading your book. So I'll read about it when I get there. Overall, though, I did appreciate Tim's words of faith. I think this book would be great for people who are fans of his, people looking to strengthen their faith, sports fans, Christians, or someone who is going through a struggle.

Tim Tebow is the ULTIMATE example of how to live life! In #Shaken, Tim very vulnerably shares about some of the lows in his life the last few years (everyone! will probably be familiar with some of the major events), shares very inspiring testimonies of several amazing people, & shares really powerful insight and encouragement throughout. TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!! Get it and read it ASAP :)! You will be encouraged & inspired! ***Read the first chapter for free: http://timtebow.com/shaken/ OR bit.ly/2eUZTTD ***Watch a neat video from Tim about the book too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zwkkJKw4BQ Thank you! God bless!

"Shaken" covered various topics many of us struggle with, such as finding our identity, dealing with critics, overcoming challenges, learning to trust God, and helping others (especially in lieu of feeling sorry for ourselves). The book is a mixture of personal experience, the experiences of others, stories from Tim Tebow's foundation, W15H (pronounced "Wish"), bible verses and quotes from other authors. Overall, I found the book to have a very peaceful and calming effect. It's very reassuring to be reminded that God loves me, no matter what happens and no matter what mistakes I make. Some of my favorite parts of the book: - You'll never silence the critics. What God KNOWS about us is more important that what others THINK. - While it makes you feel GOOD to please other people, it makes you feel FULFILLED to please God. - When you celebrate how special God made you, you see yourself through His eyes. You begin to live in the uniqueness with which you were created. - "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm." -Proverbs 13:20 Overall, it's a quick and easy (and calming!) read. It gave me different perspective on some struggles I'm having in my life. I would love to reference the book in the future when I'm dealing with something specific, so I wish the chapter headings made it a little bit easier to reference. If you're looking for a book on football, this is probably not the book for you. While the book is peppered with Tim's personal experiences, which of course includes football, the book is largely about finding our identities in Christ and living a purposeful life (purposeful as God sees it, not as how our society currently defines it). I'd highly recommend this book for anyone looking to learn or strengthen their faith. I grew up in a Christian household but largely forgot about God until recently. It was exciting to learn new stories and Bible verses. Great read and highly worth the time! I received this book from the publisher at my request to be on the book's launch team. My opinions are honest, and I was not paid or influenced in any other way.

Extremely transparent, real life journey of young man who God is using in a powerful way to inspire, encourage & challenge those of us who need to be reminded of where our identity truly comes from. Thank you Tim Tebow for being humble and for taking time to write this amazing book!

If you’ve followed Tim Tebow’s athletic career, you are aware of both the triumphs and struggles that he’s faced. The title of the book, “Shaken”, describes his reaction to the disappointments of his football career. The one constant through all his circumstances, have been widely reported and commented on, is his public testimony to his faith in Jesus Christ. Tim Tebow has been both honored for his stand for Christ or greatly ridiculed because of it. This book is Tim’s personal testimony as to how God has worked through his life during the hard times he’s faced in his personal life and athletic career. It also tells of the many opportunities he’s been granted to share the Gospel around the world. But this book goes beyond Tim Tebow’s sharing his own story. He’s candid about the issues he struggles with in his walk with God. He also gives us great advice and encouragement in how to face adversity in our own lives. He encourages us to allow God to guide us during the toughest times of our lives and learn how to magnify Him in all circumstances. I’m not surprised that this book was named the “2017 Christian Book of the Year”. It is well-written and compelling. I’d highly recommend this book as a study with a group of young adults or high school students. However, there’s sound Biblical principles for all of us at any age in handling adversity. It deserves a five star rating. I received a copy for this book from the publisher for review. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest review of this book.

Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life's Storms by [Tebow, Tim]Tim Tebow's story is inspirational to all readers. Here is a man who is willing to wear his faith for others to see. His life has not always been as charmed as it appears on the outside. He has had his share of criticism and scrutiny. However, he has learned from each obstacle that has been placed in his way. This is the book that shows how this hero has turned into an inspiration and role model for many others. He shares his faith with others not to be proud but to show others that he has also seen difficult time and he shows that God is always with us. God is faithful. He helps us to learn how to live the Christian life. We can share the behind the scenes events from his younger life. This book is for Tim Tebow fans and for all Christians. I looked forward to reading this book as a fan, but I feel like I have come away from it a stronger Christian. I was given this book by Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.

While I’m not a sports fan, per say, I have always been a fan of Tim Tebow. I respect him a lot. He truly values God’s opinion first and stands firm in his beliefs. In this day and age, with everyone wanting to ‘fit-in’ and ‘keep up with the Jones’’ he is truly an inspiration. I think God put him on this earth to bless the rest of us. I appreciated his candidness about the downfalls he has had. We’ve all had them, he just had them very publically. There were so many great quotes in this book, I was actually annoyed that I had the e-copy as there wasn’t a way to highlight them all. (The downfall of e-books, I guess.) This is a relatively fast read, full of “good- stuff.” One reviewer put it like this- I loved it so much I’m going to ‘borrow’ her quote: “Tim Tebow is a great example of how to keep your faith when your world is falling apart.”

The book Shaken by Tim Tebow has been personally one of my favorite books. This book has taught me about multiple things and how to become a better version of who I am everyday. The best aspect about this book is the connection to God and always keeping him in one's life and giving God the most glory and respect of anyone. Personally everyone can read this book although it may cause controversy about one's beliefs. However with that in mind this book changes the way mankind lives make society a better place with higher expectations for ourselves. This book is amazing but I don't see it becoming a movie. This book really can't become a movie because it would have a lackluster plot line and get boring quickly, unless it was about someone starting life rough and finding their way throughout. Overall I would rate this book an 8 it was so good and has impacted my life greatly, however I don't think it could be a novel to read in the classroom. This book would cause a lot of tension in the class and make things hostile going into depth about faith also many people dislike Tim Tebow but does he have a great story.

"...I noticed an older gentleman wearing dark glasses and carrying a white support cane, the kind used by the blind. Surrounding him was classic New York traffic - a sea of beeping taxis, the masses rushing across congested city streets... ...Three times he tried to make his way into the flow of the foot traffic, tapping his cane along the way, but then likely feeling overwhelmed, he'd stop in midstride and take a few steps back toward the curb. Not one person stopped to help this guy cross the street. Not one." Tim Tebow We have all been there. The last time you drove past someone who was pulled over on the side of the road, what did you do? Did you stop to help them? Did you wish you knew more about vehicles so that maybe you could help? Or did you just keep driving? Tim Tebow talks a lot about going against what most people are doing in order to stand up for what you believe is right. Throughout the book, he gives examples of how he has personally stood up for what he believes, as well as seeing others do the same thing. In the book Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life's Storms, Tim Tebow gave some insight as to what it was like to reach the very top of his career, and then lose it all within a couple of years. He also gives some great advice, which I love to find in books. In the beginning of the book, you will read about how Tim's football career changed his life, and how his faith helped him to get through the disappointment when it came to an end. Following that, Tim goes on to say that improving yourself despite what your critics tell you, standing out from the crowd of people trying to be "normal," and just going out and doing something will take you far in life. If you are going through a tough time right now and need some inspiration, or if you are trying to improve yourself; if you are wanting to stand out from those masses of people who ignored the blind man in New York, or if you feel like you haven't accomplished whatever your goals might be, I recommend that you read Tim's Book. "You know what happens when we do nothing? Nothing." This review was originally posted on my blog, along with other inspiring, motivational books. thewrightread.com

I knew very little about Tim when I started this book, which I received for review purposes. I associated him with the Denver Broncos, and knew something about his faith. I have learned so much. This book is about not allowing either the highs or the lows in life to determine who you are. Tim states that identity needs to come not from who we are, but from WHOSE we are. Tim writes about several giants we can face. Some examples are pressure, fear, sickness, failure, job loss, finances, and bitterness. When facing these we need to choose faith, choose to trust God. He ends with encouraging us to embrace and celebrate how special and different God made us. We should hone our skills, work on them, don't let them waste away.

Shaken Discovering your true Identity In The Mist of Life’s Storms By: Tim Tebow I love the cover of this book. What a handsome young man Mr. Tebow is. I first saw Tim playing for the Gators, what I saw was not the game but a very humble young man on his knees praying to God in front of the whole crowed before the game. That right caught my eyes and I had to know who this brave young humble man was so unlike the rude Michael Vice and a lot of the other players, Tim stood out he by far is a better player than Michael Vice could ever be. Sad that most people that own football teams want the rude, crude men like Michael Vice that doesn’t have a decent bone in his body. As I watched the game or should I say Tim Tebow I knew I wanted to know more about him. I have a few books by Tim Tebow and I knew I had to have this book too. I was not at all disappointed. I knew he was a very humble young man and felt he grew up in a Christian home and he did grow up with Christian parents. He is a young man that a lot of younger kids could use as a role model and say I’d like to be like him. In his wonderful book you’ll travel along the road of faith, disappointments, intense media scrutiny and still Tim Tebow stayed faithful and stayed obedient to the only one he knew could get him through all the storms in his life and that my friends was The Lord of Lords, King of Kings. Tim’s heart aches and his sadness only brought him closer and more humble to the Lord. Some of the stories will have you in tears some will have you laughing but most of all it is a story I feel of Tim’s faith through it all the good, the bad and the ugly. If you’re a Tim Tebow fan or even if you are not, this book will inspire you. I recommend it highly. I received this book free from blogging for books for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own and no one else’s. 5 Star 978-0-7352-8986-4

A great read filled with inspirational stories from Tim's career. Tim shares these stories honestly and passionately. Through the up's and down's of his NFL career Tebow is not afraid to share his faith. This is a great book and encouraging read for the Believer. From the new christian to mature Believers anyone will receive a word of hope and encouragement. I/we liked this book at it's message so much that we are planning on purchasing copies for the 52 boys in a state run rehab incarceration unit where we serve. This book is an excellent tool to share with non-believers. I received a complimentary copy from Waterbrook Multonomah

This was a wonderful book to read. I do not watch football neither am I a fan of the sport. I heard about Tim Tebow and his John 3:16 eye black through Facebook posts and that is the extent of my knowledge of him. I received an advance copy of this book for my honest review, and so here we go!! This book really was great, and when he explained some of his experiences in the NFL, I didn't get lost in the explanations, which were minimal, and I understood what he was drawing his experiences from. This book is not about football as much as it is about your position with Christ, in other words, who you are in Him. He really explains what that means very simply, a new christian will understand it, and a long time believer will be refreshed as well. This book will challenge anyone who feels stuck in life or bound by circumstances, to start being aware and motivated to make changes and to be a blessing to others.

I want to say first off that I am not a huge football fan and never really was, even after moving to the south 21 years ago, so to say I did not care much about college football goes right along with that. Although, being in the south that long some things, like sweet tea, do grow on you, and I like football more now than I did back then! With that being said, I was introduced to Tim Tebow through the mass hysteria that the media began a few years back. I have lived my life always trying to do what was right and what I believed was the moral thing to do. When Tim started to be targeted for doing acts based on his Christian faith, I really felt for him and connected with him. It is hard to comprehend that we live in a world that seems to be so backwards from the years of our parents, grandparents, etc. To be negatively targeted for believing in something positive as a belief in something more than any of us or bigger than football is beyond me! To criticize someone for thinking more of themselves and respecting the sacrament of marriage so highly that they to want to save themselves for their wedding night instead of “playing the field” and sleeping their way through life while diminishing the value of the family unit. All this made me excited to read Shaken; I wanted to know what Tim thought of what he had been through and how he actually got through it all. I know that I have had many experiences of loss, frustration, disappointment and plain out hurt. I have spent time trying to find out why everyone else’s lives seemed to be better or moving forward and mine felt as if it was at a stand still. As I read further into Shaken, at times I felt that Tim stole the words and feelings right out of my heart! It was very comforting to know that yes, just as I thought, he is a person like the rest of us! He has dreams for his life like most people do and he reacts just like we all do at loss, disappointment, etc, and like some of us, he picks himself back up and dusts off and goes at it the next day! I have not had the best of times in the last few years and I was hoping before I read Shaken that it would help me in some way, or push me to be on a positive path even though the trials and tribulations of life. Reading it did push me to want to continue on the path with a more positive outlook, reminded me that God has a plan even in the darkest of hours and also made me realize that I am not alone in fighting this battle. There are many warriors out their fighting to keep their faith and to live life according to the word of God. Even if we fall to sin, we never give up and say “Oh well, I failed, might as well do as I please now,” we keep up the good fight and start again a new with the love of Christ supporting us all the way! I think everyone should read Shaken whether you think you are struggling or not, it still might touch your heart and make you think of some things differently. If you are struggling this book could give you the nudge, the tap or the push you need to begin again! Thanks Tim, for putting yourself out there and sharing with the world again! I have always liked Tim Tebow just because he is a Christian and he isn't afraid to stand up for his faith. I never knew this big football player felt the same way I did almost 7 years after I lost my job. He actually felt the same way as he received the news that he was cut from the team. This wasn't his first time being let go from a team, so how does one pick himself back up from the pit of failure or what one feels like failure. In this book, Tim shows the reader how you can find yourself in the pit and not give up. He shares moments from his career but this is not a football book. I highly recommend this book. I received this book from the Tim Tebow launch team. This is my honest review

Shaken is a bottle of spiritual Gatorade! We all experience some kind of loss, rejection, failure, disappointment and brokenness. Most of us could use some encouragement and wisdom while moving through those difficult times. Tim Tebow's Shaken is offering it. He very honestly relates his own life's low points and high points all the while presenting a way to deal with ever changing circumstances in a confident and grounded way. His book reminded me of whose I was and to keep fighting for dreams and hopes that I had given up on.
