by Jamie O'Neal

Demonstrating range, authority, and deep feeling, Australian-bred Jamie O'Neal -- who's sung backup with the likes of Mindy McCready, Jason Sellers, Ronnie Milsap, Sonya Isaacs, and Chely Wright, and had her compositions covered by Wright and Tammy Cochran -- makes the most of her debut moment on Shiver. A tender/tough ballad, "Where We Belong" alternates reflective verses with bold choruses in advancing the notion of love as the ever-solid bedrock supporting even the stormiest relationships. "You Rescued Me," a steady rolling ode of gratitude to the lover who kept her on the righteous path during a tough time, finds O'Neal employing an interesting array of tonal shadings to evoke a woman under siege. The limpid, moody "There Is No Arizona" finds her coping compellingly with romantic loss, with O'Neal's languid vocal heightened by Jim Hoke's atmospheric chromonica lines. The provocative title cut is a big production spiced with soft-focus interludes, with lyrics that edge into R-rated territory in their evocative descriptions of physical desire.

Jamie's song ''There Is NoArizona'' is the best song I have heard in a long time.

This album is so much fun. It's got a great variety of music from uptempo to ballads. My favorite is When I Think About Angles, but I like all the songs - it's hard to narrow it down. A great CD for listening in your car.

Absolutly amazing CD. I asked for it for Christmas, mainly for ''Arizona'' that I had heard on the radio but I think ''When I Think About Angels'' is even better.
