CD

Overview

Blindside earned itself a cult following in the hardcore scene with two highly acclaimed Solid State releases that showcased the band's vociferous honesty musically as well as lyrically. Touring the independent scene, these Swedish natives formed close bonds with then underground mainstay P.O.D., a friendship that culminated with Blindside becoming the first signing to Elektra imprint label 3 Points. Silence marks Blindside's major-label debut, and finds the group reverting back to the initial aggressive alternative rock from its eponymous debut, yet the maturity and slick production are quite evident. Working with Howard Benson, the members of Blindside have seemingly pushed themselves to the limit to propel every song on this 13-track outing with sincere emotion, and in the process these men have effectively learned how to write hit songs. The material offered on Silence is edgy yet veers into mainstream hard rock territory, allowing much of the group's hardcore sound to evaporate in place of heavenly melodies. Older fans may find the tighter, more focused Blindside a sour taste, yet Silence is a courageous release that displays the group's immense growth from its abrasive hardcore past.

After listening to this CD, I was instantly bored by its monotone of yelling inidividuals and blaring guitars. Every song started and ended exactly the same, with heavy drums, dueling voices yelling into microphones, and as I said before, blaring guitars. None of the songs seemed to have a melody or a harmony, and they started to bring on a headache after I had listened to them for a while. So if you like an angry mob of guitar players screaming in hoarse voices, go ahead and purchase this CD. But, for everyone else, don't bother.

I personaly own this CD and listen to it all the time. I never get bored of it simply... well, because it's so good. Now I'm not saying that everyone is going to like them, but as a Christian myself, it's awsome to see such a good Christian band of this style out there. I highly recommend them.

I was really impressed when I first heard this album. Its not one of those CD's that you skip through because all the tracks are so boring. I love every single song on it, I got it when it first came out and I still listen to it all the time. It's definately worth your money

I really like what theyve done with themselves, this album has lots of replay value. Good hooks, emotionally charged lyrics and played loud, loud, loud. Sleepwalking, She Shut Your Eyes, and Caught a Glimpse are excellent tracks. Good to see these guys get a shot, I know some older fans of them might not like it, but every band has to grow up or get out and they grew up nicely.

This is the third blindside album I've heard. This album transcends the normal trends and pushes the envelope in rock music. Silence contains the sense of melody from the first album and adds the aggressive vocals of the second. However, it is easily a better record than the previous two. Blindside offers some gutsy lyrical material and takes chances with production (the last ballad particularly). The band also knows how to rock out without selling out. They sing about what they feel is true, and don't feel the need to fabricate anger in an attempt to match their aggressive sound. I think the album is solid all the way through, and I would give it 4.5 stars rather than 4, if I had the option.

VERY Impressive. The vocals and harmonies blend beautifully with the heavy guitars and rhythm. Good lyrics. It is very hard, but it's not derivitive as much of hard rock is today. It's unique. There are one or two songs that seem a little weak without the catchy melodies of the other songs, but overall this is a very strong album.

If anyone has heard the previous two albums from this band, you may think that they have a few key elements missing. But I can assure you that this album has nothing missing. The level of emotion and passion that Blindside feels, they put into music with Silence. The hardcore technique and the passionate lyrical style truely make for an unbeatable combination. I would like to say that Blindside is forming a new kind of hard rock. They aren't as down and distraught as most new rock music is today. I would recommend this to anyone that likes hard rock music.

This is the first Blindside album that I have had the pleasure of listening to. Although I thought it was pretty good the first time through, it was extended listening that revealed what a gem it really is. The guitar work and lyrics are simply fantastic. ''Caught a Glimpse'' and ''You Can Hide It'' are particularly good and really show what this album is about.

I've heard half the songs already, and they rock. The whole band plays extremely well. Pitiful and Cute Boring love are my favs so far, but this 1 cd that will definitly make it platinum, but I recommend this cd to any one who is into rock and punk, so go buy it now.

Blindside is one of the best bands out there, even if they are Christian. Thgey sing and scream about stuff actually worthwhile. These guys praise Jesus in every song, something we will all do one day. Get this CD. You will NOT be disappointed.

Blindside is to any music lover a dream. They have the best live show, there music changes but doesn't kill their focus. Blindside is one of the best bands of our time but gets over looked because of "hair spray and production".
