With Simply Deep, Kelly Rowland of the multiplatinum Destiny's Child steps out of her best friend Beyoncé's shadow and proves she's a vocal force to contend with. While Beyoncé still has a flashier singing style and physique, the more bohemian, model-thin Rowland earns cool points for altering the DC R&B-lite anthem format -- if only slightly -- to offer a set of edgier songs inspired by soul, pop, and adult contemporary rock. Chief among them is "Dilemma," Rowland's brilliant, Patti LaBellesampled hit with rap superstar Nelly, and the poignant, India.Arieesque single "Stole" -- about stolen youth due to teen pregnancy, violence, and suicide. Although she gets a little jiggy with it on up-tempo numbers such as "Love/Hate" (written by Brandy and her hubby, Robert Smith) and the feel-good party jam "Past 12," Rowland's star shines brightest when she's flexing her smoky pipes on the seductive, acoustic guitarlaced "Haven't Told You" (reminiscent of Toni Braxton's "Spanish Guitar") and the string-laden title track, featuring Beyoncé's baby sis, Solange Knowles. Of course, as a product of DC manager and executive producer Matthew Knowles' pop idol factory, Rowland can't cut all ties to the sound that shaped her. Echoes of Destiny's Child are still heard throughout the disc's 13 tracks - particularly on the pretty ballad "Everytime You Walk Out That Door" -- and the listener is left to imagine how much deeper the disc could have delved if it offered a few more songs in the vein of the hip-hop-fueled bonus track "Make U Wanna Say," featuring rising rapper Joe Budden. Still, Simply Deep does more than scratch the surface of Rowland's undeniable talent and offers a satisfying glimpse into the soul of a maturing young woman and artist.

Kelly's album is an incredible collection of songs that really touched me. Not only are they catchy and enjoable beats, but they all seem to serve a purpose and try to shed light on some situations that she has gone through herself or just wants to help people with. Please support Kelly in her journey away from Destiny's Child; she has a wonderful message that is definitely worth listening to.
It's just like a destiny child album tho' loads of ballads. Train On A Track, Haven't Told You(Love LivesIn) & Strange Places are really cool tracks tho' stole is cool as well. most people say stole is off the hook only b'cos that's all they have heard. She shud add "angel" from down to earth sound track. that tune is also album worthy and dilemma just make it a complete album
This album is the best out the solo ones from destinys child IF YOU DONT HAVE IT GO GET IT
Kelly Rowland has a great voice. Her style is what makes her different from everyone else.
I expected more from my girl Kelly. She has such a beautiful voice, but this CD disappointed me. She is singing silly love songs, which have terrible lyrics to them. She desires better then this.
Stole:Very refreshing song, I must admit I love it. When I watched the music video I found tears streaming down my cheek. The song is different from Destiny's Child's style, whom I also love. The song conveys an important message to all of us high school students, think before you act.
Kelly Rowland did a great job with her first of, hopefully, many solo ablums. There are a few songs where her vocals really shine, 'Beyond Imagination', 'Simply Deep', 'Stole'. This album seems to have a theme to it, it seems that this album is about love and the different phases it goes through. My favourites has to be 'Haven't Told You' and my number one favourite, and I'm praying that she'll release this as her next single, is 'Everytime You Walk Out The Door', this song is so sweet, and a real beautiful ballad. I do agree that most of the songs on this album really doesn't showcase her vocal range. Hopefully her next solo album will show off her vocals. But for now this is a must have album for all Kelly, Destiny's Child or just music lovers to have.
kelly album simply deeply is a is a mix between rock and r& b . As a part of destinys child she is probally is known for having a low voice, But on simply deeply she sounds like beoynce. The first 7 songs are really good then it goes in the same thing . Her lyrics are like that of a child or teen in love.
it seems like kelli always played the number two voice in DC, but now that she's focused on creating a solo album, we can all see how strong and developed her voice really is. The two singles, "dilemma" (w/ nelly) and "stole" are definitely dynamite hits - incidently, the video for stole is really powerful - i cried the first time i saw it. check it out on mtv or bet. But otherwise, I agree w/ the others, that the album doesn't do her justice. it's good, but the songs themselves remind me of something britney would do, not someone like kelli who has SO MUCH MORE to offer vocally. I'd say buy it if you really like DC and Kelli - it's a solid first solo CD.
Kelly Rowland opens the album with the first single "Stole" in which she makes it clear that this album is completly different than Destiny's Child. This song has a very deep meaning and Kelly puts lots of feeling into it, anyone can relate. The album is full of alternative R&B, funk and hip-hop, exactly what Kelly promised us. You wont be disappointed, There is a song for every occasion. In this album, for the first time, I can say Kelly shines.
After reading everyones revirws about kelly's album. I've decided to write my own. First off kelly's albumis very nicely put together, yes it could have been longer and yes some songs were just okay! but the truth of the matter is this album is still good!she does't need super producers to back her up!Hint!Hint!(beyonce)and it does't take a few songs for us to appriciate her voice Hint!Hint!(michelle) the lyrics on this album for the most part speaks to the fanbase she had at that time and so what if there was too many love songs!she still had the overall best of the three solo albums!Maybe its me but its kind of hard to really shine after leaving a group and really do it artistically.without selling yourself short!the only artist who stayed true to their roots out of the group was..........kelly
Kelly is great. She's got such a great voice and I love to listen to her. OK, I probably wouldn't say its one of the best albums ever - its hard to top my favourite albums - but I really enjoy listening to "Simply Deep" - Buy it.
Although I'm not a big R&B fan, I really enjoyed Kelly Rowland's "Simply Deep" album. My favorite, and in my opinion, the most meaningful was "Stole". It really hit home with me. It taught me to love people as if everyday was our last. It's totally great!
I absolutely loved this CD. Kelly has a beautiful voice and I will definitely buy her next CD! It has more slow songs, rather than party songs, so if your looking for a party starter, however, this isn't it.
This Cd is so tight. The sound is mad crazy. It really showed some of Kelly's vocal power. One thing that is funny is that, in a few songs she sounds exactly like beyonce. I mean exactly, for awhile I thought Beyonce was featured in them songs. Alot of people are thinking that Kelly can't do it like Bey can, but she proved she can, I wish she would everytime myself. Maybe not exactly like Beyonce, but as good because alot of times she doesnt sound as good. Now we know she can do it. I like her new rock and roll sound. I was a bit worried about how that would sound, but it was pretty cool. That actaully became my favorite song for awhile. I was bopping my head with her. A video would have been better for that song rather than "Stole". There is so much Kelly has to offer. She is not finished yet, WATCH OUT YALL. Kelly, im proud of you.
Stole is such a cool song, it makes me cry all the time, but it really puts the meaning through. It's about some kids that aren't grown up yet and haven't discoverd themselves but before they get the chance it's taken away from them. And they leave the friends family and unfinished dreams behind. This is due to a murder by a boy that never got attention and was always known as a NERD, his way to get back was to hurt the people that had a life a head of them and got the attention that he could neva get. But more or less they die and he lives. It's the best and KELLY ROWLAND ROX! She's the best out of all DEstiny's CHild and Beyonc'e really looks bad when kelly is there, so Kelly keep it goin baby and trash Beyonc'e. LOL
