A princess who has lost her mother and father finds herself in a terrifying world that urgently needs a queen.
Sophia is smart, beautiful, and accomplished, a beloved princess devoted to the people and to reading books. The kingdom is hers, until she is plunged into a nightmarish realm populated by the awful beasts she read about as a child.
The beasts are real. And so is the great army marching on her castle. The people look to Sophia for protection. They will all perish unless she can unlock an ancient secret as profound as life and death itself.
Sophia, Princess Among Beasts is a fabulous adventure, and a stunning mystery. Here again is proof of why James Patterson is the world's most trusted storyteller.

So, I finished the new Patterson book (Sophia, Princess among Beasts) and to tell you the truth, I was disappointed. It didn't read like his regular books at all (no flow) , and if he was trying to appeal to a different audience, I think he failed. Now, I've read worse books (lots of worse books!) but this one seemed choppy to me, and the plot was very predictable. I've read a lot of fantasies/alternate realities/return from death sorts of books, but this one just didn't hold up for me. The over 300 pages had large print and a lot of white space, as though it were meant for a juvenile audience. With smaller print and less white space, maybe the plot could have been filled out a bit better and the characters rounded out. As it is, this isn't worth the time reading it.
