Overview

Jay Osmond is a consummate entertainer. The youngest original member of the Osmond Brothers, he was widely known as the endearing little boy with the toothless grin on The Andy Williams Show. Fifty years, 30 gold albums, and 77 million records later, Jay opens up about his personal life and longstanding career in this heartfelt autobiography.

Jay’s public persona is confident, adventurous, and strong. But his close friends also know his vulnerable side, captured on the pages of this book. He is warm, sensitive, and focused on bringing happiness to others through his music. These qualities, along with his quick wit, have allowed him to cope with and overcome the challenges of life in and out of show business.

About the Author

Jay Osmond has been in the entertainment industry for over fifty years. While he is primarily known for his singing, he is a talented drummer who was voted by Flip Magazine as one of the top ten drummers in the United States. In 1972, Jay shared the lead with brother Merrill on “Crazy Horses,” which became the Osmonds’ bestselling single overseas; it remains a fan favorite to this day. Jay has produced numerous television specials and is a solo drum artist, but he spends most of his time as a member of The Osmond Brothers.

MY MISSION

The purpose of the Osmond family is to lighten the load of others by bringing music that carries with it a message of hope—that life can be enjoyed and lived with an abundance of love. That is our message. That is our dream.

My mission is to be a part of this family, whose ministry is to help bring souls to Christ. That’s what it is all about, no matter what stage of life we are in. We are all children of God, and He loves us the same—no matter what we’ve done or what our station in life is. He always has His arms open to us.

Helping others to find the Gospel is what brings me joy and happiness. Even if we bring one soul to Christ, our mission will be complete.

Every stage of my life has helped me to build faith in Jesus Christ and in His Gospel.

I absolutely loved the way the book was written. It starts at the beginning of Jay's career, giving you insight into how Jay felt about all the phases of his life. I love the way there were personal thoughts, feelings and experiences in his book. Jay didn't seem to feel insecure about sharing things that might be viewed as "not good" about his life. That sounds strange, but he shared alot of personal things that many people in the public eye might not choose to share. I really came away from reading this book feeling like I knew Jay better. I admired him more because of some of the things he shared, he seemed "real" to me - like a person I would really like to sit down and talk to. He has gone through things that people I know have gone through and I respect him for sharing these stories with us. I would say if you are a fan of Jay Osmond, this is a must read. You will know him better, respect him more and feel as though you've gained a friend. Great book!!!

An easy-reading, inspirational book written by a member of THE most talented family in show business. A wonderful collection of memoirs, and quotes, as well as notes on Jay from friends and entertainers who know him best. I especially loved the chapter in which he writes about his family, and the assortment of pictures that brought me right back to my years of flipping through teen magazines and concert books. This book is a testimony to the faith, family love and talent that has kept Jay, and the entire Osmond Family at the top of their game for over half a century. Loved it!

I found that once I started it I coulded put it down.Everytime I got a chance Iwas reading ,and that is very unuaul for me.Jay really captuered his family and how close anddeep feeling they have for one another.that is so special for a family for them to be coming from such a big one.I know we are similar close but boy can the claws come out in some bad times.I think thats one of the things I respect so much about the Osmonds,is their belive in the Mormon religon.the religon I now beleive with my heart and soul.I always said I would`t give mormons a chance because of the osmonds but that was before two of the best missionaries came to my door.the didn`t find out I was an osmond fan for weeks.I loved and will reread again and again!!!!!

What a great this is. I had a hard time finding it. I really enjoyed reading this book.,that I even read it twice..There were things in the book I knew, and there was quite a bit I didn't know. I am glad he shared it with us. Jay has been my favorite Osmond since I was 16 years old and he was 17.He had me hook with his smile. there were parts I laughed and there were parts where I cried. I remember the part when they come to the Houston Rodeo , they were great . I seen them after the show and was standing beside the bus when they got on..I loved the quotes and the messages from his close friends and family.I would like to thank Jay for writing such a good book . Waiting on the second one. THANK YOU JAY

It was so sweet & thoughtful for Jay to write this book. He opens up and lets us in on how it was to be an Osmond through his eyes. A wonderful book for fans or anyone that enjoys reading the life of a star. The pictures were fun to look at. Jay was a cute little boy, and has turned out to be a beautiful man inside & out! I really enjoyed the book! Some of the stories I'd heard, but many I had not. It was nice to hear them from Jay's point of view. I went through many emotions while reading, all good. Overall it reads like Jay talks, friendly and real, with a great sense of humor.

I read Jay's book as soon as I got it, I knew a lot of the stuff already, but there were some bits and pieces I didn't know, some good pictures ... I would have liked more intimate detail of his life growing up, what he went through as a teenager, what he had to do to get by, how he dealt with the fame ... lavender13SM in GA.

Jay speaks frankly of his experiences as an osmond and the reader finds more facts out about this wonderful family and what went on when so many fans did not know about in their teens and 20,s and 30,s. It,s a pity that the pics are only black and white though, it,s a kind of a book you just won,t be able to put down till the last page then you,ll want to re read it all again..........
