Overview

Confessing his deception means risking his career, but not coming clean with her could risk her life

Detective Sean Fitzgerald is hot on the trail of a man who is key to breaking a human trafficking ring, but he needs a way to get close without arousing suspicion. His opportunity comes in the form of film star Annabelle Quinn, who's in town and in need of a bodyguard. Her best friend is his top suspect, and he can use the connection to break his case.

But when Annabelle comes to mean so much more than a means to an end for Sean, his objectivity is in danger, and he's painfully aware that the lies between them could doom any hope for a future for them. Lives depend, however, on him closing the case. When his deceptions endanger Annabelle's life, can he convince her to trust him enough that he can save her?

In a series of about 30 books (and yes I've read them all) this is tied with the first one for my favorite in this offshoot of characters. The good thing is you don't have to be like me and read every book in the series to enjoy each books, because while you get to revisit past family members, they are supporting characters and their storyline is not integral to the plot(s). Whenever you pick up a book by Jean Brashear, you will find well defined and likeable characters with flaws that make them human. You will never go wrong with these books.

Annabelle is a famous Hollywood actress and America’s sweetheart come to Texas to stay at Hotel Serenity to try and recover from a cheating husband’s betrayal. She’s been promised privacy and seclusion from the world and her avid fans at the hotel. She only wishes to spend time with her longtime friend Martin. While staying at the hotel she becomes friends with Vanessa the very sweet and kind, the hotel owner and her husband Dane. Through Vanessa and her extended friends and their family she meets Sean, an undercover cop who’s investigating Martin and his connections to the sex slave industry. Sean needs to find out if Annabelle is involved in the dirty business or if she has any knowledge or perhaps helpful information. Sean is assigned to stay close to Annabelle as the investigation heats up. An assignment he doesn’t mind at all other than wishing the investigation could be wrapped up quickly and successfully. He and Annabelle discover they have many things in common. Many of their values and life experiences are similar and a bond begins to grow between them. Their chemistry and attraction is strong and intense despite Annabelle having sworn off men. Their story is sweet and breathtaking with plenty of intensity and strong amounts of danger thrown in. I couldn’t read their story fast enough but conversely was sad when it ended. I can’t wait for the next Jean Brashear book to publish. I’ve grown to love her family of characters and the towns they live in. They always make me long to know them in person and join their happy family.

This is another great story from Jean Brashear. This one moves away from the usual cowboy style stories but it's still filled with the excitement and passion we've come to expect. Sean Fitzgerald is a detective that is investigating a human trafficking ring. Although he's immediately drawn to a-list actress Annabelle Quinn, he never would have approached her if he hadn't been inticed with the idea of being her bodyguard which would get him closer to her best friend and his prime suspect. Bonus, spending time with Annabell is no hardship. This is a very well done book and I definitely recommend it.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Texas Bodyguard:Lone Star Lovers is book 7, Texas Heroes 29 by Jean Brashear is as always a well written, romantic, undercover cop/bodyguard, mystery and twist and turns... Sean Fitzgerald is a detective who is investigating Martin a prime suspect in human trafficking from his club the Danger Zone but Sean hasn't been able to get a break to take Martin down until a well known actress, Annabelle Quinn and best friend to Martin comes to town. While Annabelle has come to town to see her best friend and to get her life back on track, she needs a bodyguard so Sean goes undercover and becomes her bodyguard thinking this may bring him closer to taking Martin down...little does Sean know that there's more danger, more players, and keeping Annabelle safe from harm could be the hardest of all.. Suspense, lies, deception, romance, and edge of your seat keeps you turning the pages til the last word is read!

Jean did it again. Another great story. Each story in the Texas Heroes series draws you in and keeps you there and Texas Bodyguard follows in this tradition. Immediately you want to know more about the characters. “Hollywood” and the undercover cop, Sean have chemistry that is amazing. Annabelle has trust issues. While Sean is falling for her he is also using her to find out more about her best friend who is a suspect in a human trafficking investigation. Somehow Jean manages to resolve their problems and they find their happily ever after.

Romance, a little intrigue, action, and sexy times. I liked Sean and Annabelle together. I loved their easy, fun banter as they got to know each other. The secondary storyline about the undercover op was interesting, and I wish their had been more information as to how Martin got started in the mess. Other than that, I am just greedy. I would have so enjoyed to read more about the romance developing between Sean and Annabelle. Icing on the cake would have been an epilogue. All that being said, it was a very enjoyable read that I was sorry it had to end. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
