Overview

From New York Times and USAToday bestselling romance author Jean Brashear:

Mitch Gallagher is a loner, down to the bone. Banished at sixteen from everything and everyone he held dear, he's an intensely private man whose rusty, unused heart long ago gave up on love. Fragile Perrie Matheson is on the run to protect her beloved son. Too ill to travel further with a winter storm on the way, she has no choice but to gamble her child's safety on a man who wants only to be left alone. But during days spent together in the mountain cabin, Mitch and Perrie each find surprises in store...and all the reasons they should stay apart battle with the yearnings of hearts too long denied love.

About the Author

New York Times and USAToday bestselling Texas romance author of over 50 novels, including the popular TEXAS HEROES series, a five-time RITA finalist and RT BOOKReviews Career Achievement Award winner, Jean Brashear knows a lot about taking crazy chances. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'-take that leap now.

I recommend all three. They can be a bit of tear jerkers, lovely reads.

Typical redundent story line about as exciting as watching paint dry. Cost to much for 150 pages, could have been writen by a first year collsge student!

I felt badly for both Mitch and Perrie. The experiences they had, the pain, the fear, and uncertainty they felt was very well written. As they both started to open up, the narrator easily conveyed the writer's descriptions of their hesitation, their leap of faith, and resulting happiness. The love and care for Davey was felt felt from the very beginning. This was a well written, fast-paced story that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Really good narration allows you to accept each character's personality. Eric Dove seamlessly carries you through the story until there is somewhat of a resolution to Mitch's family issues and an HEA all around. I liked the first book Texas Secrets, but I enjoyed this book more.

It was easy for me to see the story playing out in my mind. For me, that is always the mark of well-written story. I loved the characters, especially the little boy, Davey, who reminded me so much of my own son (who is a grandfather now) when he was Davey's age. And now...on to purcase book #3 of the trilogy.
