Overview

When scandal and an ambitious prosecutor wreck talented chef Scarlett Ross's life and she learns of a grandmother she never knew she had, she flees the notoriety to pay an anonymous visit to Sweetgrass Springs, Texas, a town kept alive only by her grandmother's determination and carried on the strong shoulders of sexy Texas cowboy Ian McLaren. There she is surprised to discover a yearning to sink roots deep in the Texas Hill Country—but she is terrified that the secrets she's hiding will endanger everyone she's come to love.

"Jean Brashear's distinctive storytelling voice instantly draws in the reader. She writes with warmth and emotional truth.” ~ #1 NY Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber

About the Author

New York Times and USAToday bestselling Texas romance author of over 50 novels, including the popular TEXAS HEROES series, a five-time RITA finalist and RT BOOKReviews Career Achievement Award winner, Jean Brashear knows a lot about taking crazy chances. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'-take that leap now.

A 85 page free Texas romance story of a young chef escaping New York after being threatened, and to the family she didn't know existed til she went through her mother's papers. Then her skills as a cook are needed by the woman she thinks may be her...... and that big hunk of hot handsome cowboy that helped change her flat and invited her to breakfast... . Some hot moments and explicit descriptive sex scenes. Mild cussing. This book very similar to story about Maddie. An excerpt for next in series about Mackie also provided.

Love the plot and wonderful homey characters. Scarlett's fascination with her family's history and the mystery of her Mother's actions keeps you turning pages and, of course, her infatuation with Ian. While she is hiding from her past in New York she is finding out about the family she didn't know she had.

A sweet, predictable love story of a hotel in trouble finding love and home in a small town. Some of the language is trite:”little gal" immediately comes to mind. Fun read, a solid four

I really enjoyed this story! I fell in love with Nana Ruby, with her secret manfriend. I liked all the dynamics between, Ian, Scarlet, Ian's Dad; between all the families and townspeople. I'm looking forward to reading many more of these series! I'm so glad there are so many more stories to read. I'm not fond of sexual scenes. I'm one who will mark areas like that. Why? Because I read aloud to my family. The story is all about love, family, loyalty, courage & strength - of character and physical. Of helping community. All things I wasn't to impress as important to my kids & grandkids.

Texas Roots offers everything but the kitchen sink. Brashear has crafted a ghostly tale of love lost and hopes revisited. Scarlett and Ian are a bit players in a tale as intriguing as the shadows that haunt the legendary fabled spring that serves as a backdrop for this small town. Scarlett is on the run from demons in her past. Her getaway provides her the chance to get answers to some long overdue questions about herself and the family she never knew existed. Ian is her chance at salvation. He rescues her from a life full of loneliness and she shows him the meaning of true love. With the forces determined to tear them apart, can they break the curse of the woman with a broken heart and find their own chance at forever? As always Brashear and Dove make a great team when it comes to captivating romance.

An outstanding story. Although there are boundless tales to be told, this story did not leave me feeling betrayed as those darn cliffhangers do. The story of Ian and Scarlett is interesting and involved. As is the background history of the stories of people before the story opened. I recommend this story.
