I was so happy to see this at the book store. My boys (ages 7 and 11) both love these comics and always check them out at the library. I plan to collect all in the series. I think they're interesting and considering when they were written, a bit of a history lesson in comics. Also, I read an article that they're going to make a movie with Daniel Craig in it based on these comics.

This is one volume of six. All of them are sensational. I have been a fan of Tintin for ages. You should read at least one story, and you will be addicted with this series as well. I wish that I could rate this '6' stars instead; five is not enough.

Tintin in America (Adventures of Tintin series), as always a great adventure of Tintin, provided by Barnes & Noble at a great price. Growing up in Cairo Egypt, I have been reading Tintin in French (the original language of his adventures since age 7 (I was educated in College des Freres De La Salle 'The Christian Brothers'), Tintin has been a part of my childhood, now at age 52 living in the USA, I purchased the entire selection from Barnes and Noble (in English)for my daughter and will pass it on to my grand children, thank you Tintin, thank you Herge.

While Tintin in America is thoroughly wretched, and The Blue Lotus is merely passable (if one can ignore some of the mildly offensive ethnic stereotypes), this collection is saved by the Cigars of the Pharaoh, which is a true Tintin classic.Among other things, Cigars of the Pharaoh introduces the Thompson Twins (in all their bumbling glory), and brings arch-villain Rastapopoulos into the mix as well. But the real beauty of this adventure is the ephemeral plot around those drug-filled cigars and the mysterious cult that smuggles them. And then there's Rajaijah juice, "the poison of madness", which turns out to be the key to a lot of kooky, creepy, paranoid fun in the grand style one expects from the best of the Tintin adventures. The inclusion of Indian fakirs and the incomparable Sophocles Sarcophagus make this adventure a real character-driven epic, something that Herge was much more capable of than your typical comic artist. All around, one of the more rewarding reads in the Tintin canon.
