The death of a sleazy ninety-five year old pawnbroker turns out to be much more than the botched results of one of the countless robberies played out each day in the Big Apple. The curious murder with its unconventional collection of suspects generates a tale that combines elements of a screwball comedy with an off-the-wall whodunit.
Felix Brackenball, the forever bumbling inspector on the case, adds turmoil to the mystery. Brackenball's torturous stumbling blocks on his quest to solve the murder include two harebrained scam artists along with a group of incredibly wacky suspects. These include a scheming Englishman, a not-so-holy nun, a simple-appearing bag lady, a notorious loan shark, a priest who keeps changing religions, and a twenty-two year old very awful actress who happens to be the dead pawn broker's wife.
