It is hard to realize sometimes that several of these volumes cover such a short period of time. But the detail in these books is amazing. There are three main male characters, and, perhaps, a few more female, two of whom are from the same village as the three men. The tale is epic in every way, and draws from pretty much every mythology known to man. The final books hark back to events in the first, the plotting is continuous; and, in the end, we learn the outcome of the "final battle". There is always, in every book, a reminder that the wheel of time turns, and that what has happened before will happen again, so we all know that the final battle isn't really, but that each final battle lays the seeds of the next one, far in the future, by the time that this final battle is no more than legend. I have all fourteen in hardcover, and re-read them at my leisure.

By far the best series I have ever read and I still listen to on Audible. There are a lot of different players but the three boys who are best friends stay with you even after you read the last page.

One of the best Fantasy Series ever. Love these books.

You will not believe how awesome these books are. Incredibly detailed does not begin to describe the characters and events that occur in the pages of these books. Not textbook detail, but detail that you read and begin to know the characters. Really know, and then still be surprised as they act differently or are presented with terrible, impossible choices. Don't worry about travel scenes, this is one fantasy that only describes traveling if it is pertinent, and nearly every time someone is traveling, you learn something important. The first book is nearly a stand alone, in case you need to just wet your toes, and then once its hooked you, you fall into the books. Read. Just trust this random person's review. Try the first book. Try the second after that. And the third...you'll be gone and wishing you walked in Andor, or fought with a Borderlander, or was dangerous like a Warder, and thanking the Light that you've never met a myrddraal. Good luck on your journey.

Easily the best fantasy story ever. Absolutely epic in scope and detail. Have all in hardback, some signed. Named my son after the main character. If you don't read these its a shame and a loss.

Between the diverse cast of characters and the the the detailed and intricate story, Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson created a beautiful work of literature, one I would recommend wholeheartedly to any one looking for a good (and long) read.

ALERT! Comes with New Spring! (Apparently best read after The Fires of Heaven to prevent spoiler as best I can gather from the internets). I had purchased New Spring separately based on the overview description at the same time, brought this to the attn of cust svc and the refunded New Spring back to me, also said they would update overview soon (writing this 8/29/16). The stars are actually for cust svc, I'll write or update the review after I have slogged through all 11104 pages of this behemoth of a story!!

Robert Jordan was a literary master. A man with the art of storytelling as much a part of him as my hands are a part of me. He makes you live and breath through the eyes of the characters he introduces you to. They become old friends that will be there, always, when you open the page. The world lost a master craftsman when it lost him. Sanderson did his best, and truly did an amazing job, but you can feel the loss of Robert in every page. Like an open wound you ignore. But the book, and series end in the most satisfying way possible. I love this series, always have, always will. From the time I picked it up at 13 in middle school, till now, 13 years later, this series has always been the greatest I've ever read. No author, living or dead, has ever been able to make me feel, to the depths of my soul, exactly how their characters feel quite like Jordan. And I wouldn't have it any other way... Honestly, I can't recommend it enough. Just read it and you'll thank me profusely later, I guarantee it!

Loved this series since I first started reading it. Didn't start until after the first ten books were released, took me all of a month to read them. Eagerly awaited every book after that. Note: This collection also includes New Spring, though it doesn't list it.

Well written, well paced book/series. Lots to keep track of, but well worth the effort. With 11,000 pages to read, give yourself plenty of time to make it all the way through.
