Overview

The Delta Solution is an action-packed novel dealing with the Somali pirates operating off the southerly reaches of the lawless East African republic on the Indian Ocean.

For the past three years, these heavily armed tribal brigands have been capturing and holding for ransom massive cargo ships, especially oil tankers, and violently demanding millions of dollars for their return. Pirating out of the tiny Somalian village of Haradheere has become a very lucrative, dangerous business, so much so that the village has its own Stock Exchange with a reputed $78 million cash, all in crisp $100 bills, in the town vault. And each time an owner pays big for the return of their ship, the pirates immediately do it again, enraging the Pentagon more and more by the day.

That is, until the "Somali Marines" make a big mistake, seizing at gun point two United States ships and demanding a $15 million ransom for their return.

Hero Mack Bedford, previously encountered in Diamondhead and Intercept, is deployed to SEAL Team 10 to form The Delta Platoon. His objective: obliterate the Somali Marines in the middle of the Indian Ocean, at all costs, once and for all.

If you like military or political potboilers, you'll like this one. The frustration with Somalian pirates leads to development of a specialized SEAL team to address the problem, to provide a permanent solution. Better than some of Robinson's books, which can drag, this moves right along. We all know what's going to happen, and it does. Justice is satisfying.

Absolutely a page turner! Pure action of the Navy Seals in action. I was completely washed out as if I had been on the ground with them. Definately recommended to anyone who wants to be entertained from cover to cover.

He mailed this one in. While multiple story lines progressed, he never really tied them together until it was too late for a reader to continue to care. The attention to technical details that have always been a benchmark of the works of Clancy and a few others are woefully absent. Six people riding in an attack helicopter from Andrews AFB to the White House, 6.72 mm Russian ammunition and so many other incorrect details do tend to turn off technorthriller readers. Too bad. I've enjoyed his works in the past. But, he surely could have done better.

Hey Harriet, give a brief (BRIEF) sumary and quit giving the story away! Let us read the book/books on our own!!!!! You are VERY VERY rude and inconsiderate! Would you really like somebody giving the story aeay on a book you have NEVER read? Be a mature and considerate person.

Here we go again. The queen of all plot spoilers is at it again. Come on, bn. Ban harriet klausner for good. She ruins every book she so calls reviews. She has an ego the size of texas to think her spoilers are the end. Ban this poster!!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed this book! Lots of action and adventure with a timely plot. I hate to say this but please review the book not a reviewer.

I liked this story and really liked the hero, Mac Bedford, a former Delta Platoon member sent to SEAL team 10. There was just something missing from the story, though. Each time I left the book and came back, I had to go back and remind myself who was who and what was their place in the story. I have struggled trying to define this. All I know is that other similar books felt fuller and less narrated. This one always seemed it could have been written a little it better. Still a good story.

Such a great concept -- behind the scenes with the Somali pirates, trying to understand their motivation; listening in to the commercial ship owners as they make the decisions to pay the ransoms (yes plural for some of them); introducing the elite commando team that will fix the problem -- but then the first 50pp are done and you realize you still have another 275pp to slog through. I was motivated to read this book, as I have altered sailing routes twice to avoid known pirate territory and was shadowed for a day another time, so I really enjoy ready current piracy accounts where I can learn something new, unfortunately this was not it. Not recommended.

I have read many of Patrick Robinson's books, but this has to be his best ever. From believable characters to a situation right out of today's headlines, this story has it all.

Interesting book but difficult to stay with. I had to force myself to plow through it. Not bad overall.

I tried to like this, I really did. The action wasn't exciting, the characters weren't developed enough for me to even bother reading the last 30 pages. I didnt care evough about them. I kept hoping for a Mitch Rapp style hero but this Mack character just didn't deliver. Agree that Harriet Klausner is annoying.

A great value read. A little tedious at times but very enjoyable. Will read more from Patrick.

As a long time military officer, I found the story interesting, but filled with technical errors. The author seems to have rushed through the final chapters to end the book. Several unrealistic parts of the story.

One of the first books that I've read with all of the pertinent info that the government will release, a great read.
