After searching for a good dairy-free egg-free gluten-free cookbook (there is such a thing?) I chose this book and am very satisfied with what I've found. The book is well organized, easy to follow, and a must for anyone who feels clueless about what to cook/eat when you have a food allergy or intolerance. I can't say enough about the ease of use of this book - at the top of each recipe are listed icons clearly indicating which allergies the recipe is good for Ex: no dairy, no wheat, etc/). The recipes I've tried so far are delicious and easy to make. Most recipes offer several substitutions, and offer helful tips and suggestions as well. In addition, the introduction contains some basic information on food allergies, such as reliability of tests, foods that typically cause allergies, tips for eating out, and a plan to get started. If you're feeling overwhelmed on where to start or how to cook when you or someone in your family has an allergy or intolerance, I believe you'll appreciate this book as much as I do.

I was pretty disappointed to find a recipe for things as simple as scrambled eggs in this cookbook. I have to say that if it wasn't for the fact that it was free, I would have been extremely annoyed by this book. Also, there really weren't very many peanut/nut free desserts which I found off putting. Since that's my allergy, I feel like it was a little deserted for other allergens in the book. I thought it was the "everything food allergy," but it seemed to focus more on specific allergens than others, and many of the ingredients were very odd, but that could simply be because I don't deal with the allergens covered in many of the recipes. It seems like a more dedicated, or allergen specific, cookbook would be better for providing more recipes if you are only dealing with one or two allergies, as many of these recipes attempt to cover a broad range of allergens, which I feel may be foolish for a mass-market cookbook.

Recipes are simple and sound tasty, although I haven't tried any. I love to read any kind of cookbook and will keep it in my Nook library. It was a free book on Free Fridays. Probably wouldn't pay for it, hence the reason I gave it 4 stars.
