“All God asks me As I grow, love, and live Is that I show others The gift I can give,” Kathie Lee Gifford rhymes in her children’s book, The Gift That I Can Give. ~ What ~ At thirty-two pages, this oversized hardbound with a jacket cover with sparkly butterflies targets children four to eight years old. With no scary scenes, it is a book that promotes God and the special gift He gives to all who believe in Him. After an ownership page to complete and dedication page, this book is told in rhyme about a young girl who learns that she is exactly the person God made her to be. Since birth, she has been given a gift from God to share with others. Wondering what the gift is, she contemplates if it could be a special talent, helping others, being kind to animals, cheering on a friend, lending a hand, visiting someone who is sick, or loving her family. She realizes that as she grows, loves, and lives, it is God’s love that she can give to others. ~Why ~ Having grandchildren, I love getting books about God and His love for them. I like the broad, colorful illustrations of adorable children who will keep young readers’ attention, including the butterflies in almost all the scenes. By explaining ways we can give to others, the underlying message is God’s love surpasses all. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not like books about God or a relationship with Him may not approve of this book. Others may note there are no Bible references and God is generalized so it could be anyone’s god. Beginner readers may have problems with some of the two- and three-syllable words. ~ Wish ~ While I appreciate the author’s fun and engaging poem that reminds young ones that God is love, I wish it went a step further to mention Jesus and the eternal plan of salvation that should be shared with others. Providing a Bible verse or two may correlate the story to the God of the Bible. ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a children’s book for preschoolers to third-graders that exemplifies that we can share God’s love to others at any age, this is a good starter to show how to grow, love, and live for Him. The Gift That I Can Give is a sweet, rhythmic book for very young children of the ‘gifts’ that God gives us. We in turn are blessed by them. Then we turn around and give them to others. Things like cheering on a friend, visiting the sick, and feeding the hungry. The pictures that go along with this book are so sweet and fun to look at with little ones. I enjoyed reading this one by Kathie Lee Gifford. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

THE GIFT THAT I CAN GIVE is a cute, well-done book for kids. I love that it implies that no matter what you are talented at - dance, sports, kindness, etc, one gift that you can give is LOVE. It encourages children to show love to animals and other people. The colorful and well-done illustrations will keep kids attention, and I love the glittery touch on the butterflies on the cover. The verses are well-written and engaging and will generate discussion. A cute childrens book that I recommend for daycares, preschools, libraries, and families. I think it is for kids younger than 6. I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

The Gift that I Can Give by Kathie Lee Gifford is an empowering picture book that shows the many gifts given by God and how children can share their gifts with the world. Told in short rhyming quatrains, through the story the narrator questions whether the gift she is given is dancing, singing, sharing while playing football, helping animals, cheering on a friend, joining a marching band, visiting someone in the hospital, or giving her family hugs. The ending includes a prayer for her to be able to share her gifts with others, and the revelation that God's love is the gift she can give. The message is encouraging: that God has given her so many gifts that she can share with others. The specific mentions of acts of services is an especially creative way of teaching children that gifts don't have to just be innate skills. The text is in first person, but the illustrations follow a little girl through the pages, accompanied by lots of butterflies, pinks, and purples. The dust jacket also features glittery butterflies. Despite playing in to some gender stereotypes, the illustrations redeem themselves through a racially and gender-diverse game of flag football. Julia Seal's illustrations are cute and colorful and add depth to the story through little details. The religious message that our gifts come from God is strong, as is the message that we should be sharing those gifts with others. This book encourages community engagement, friendship, and generally compassion for others, shared through a catchy rhyming verse. For these reasons, I'd recommend this book for children ages 3 to 7. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to post a positive review.

book with easy to read rhymes. I always point that out because, as a mom, that’s important when I have to read a story to get my little one back to sleep in the wee hours of the morning. There are no tongue twists, so I’d be able to manage at 2am. Plus the words are big and bold, to help our weary eyes. Bound in hardcover, it’s sure to be a great addition to any home library. Beautiful illustrations are done by Julia Seal. I love the fall theme, my favorite time of year. The story follows a child that questions what gift God has given them. Interestingly enough, this is what adults tend to question as well. I’ve often wondered, What is that special gift that God has given me to bless others? The child in this story can be found comforting, helping, praying, dancing, playing, encouraging, and more. With the ultimate realization of what God’s gift truly is in each of us. What a wonderful way to encourage our little ones. This is a sweet book that will be sure to catch a child’s attention. Is this book meant for girls? While the front cover depicts what looks like a girl surrounded by glittery butterflies, I wouldn’t let that deter me when reading to my child. If that were the case, I myself would have missed out on a lot of books, especially my favorite: The Snowy Day. In fact, I think children would like the textured feel that the glittery butterflies have, even though it’s only on the flap cover and not the book itself. I received a complimentary copy from BookLook Bloggers. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I received a free copy of this book from Book Look Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. official blurb The Gift That I Can Give is a heartwarming story from Kathie Lee Gifford of how all children have something they can do today to make a difference. Whether it is being kind, giving a family member an extra-big squeeze, visiting someone who is sick, or cheering on a friend, this story will inspire children, leading them to want to read it again and again. my blurb! A children’s book about a girl trying to figure out how to use the gift that God has given her. Perfect for kids age 2- 4 years old. 3.75 out of 5 what i liked Wow the illustrations in this book were amazing! They were done by Julia Seal and I will quickly be looking her up to see what else she has illustrated. They did a great job of keeping my littles attention (which is not always easy to do). I also appreciated the cover value of this book- it features glitter (that does not come off on everything), and butterflies. My kids saw it and immediately wanted to read it! The biggest compliment that I can give this story is that as soon as I finished it for the first time, my two-year old asked me to read it again immediately! I loved the message of this book, God gives you a gift that may not be extravagant but is a great and useful blessing. I also appreciated seeing multicultural kids in this book! what i didn't like I love a rhyming book with good cadence. They are my favorite to read to my littles! But there were a couple of pages that didn’t flow well for me. This is a big downside for me because as the reader- it’s one of the biggest incentives for me to read it 1000+ times for my kiddos. Overall the illustrations in this book and the message of the book were a big win for me. while reading you should Pray with your kids! Listen to: Jesus Loves Me Ask your kids what they want to do to show kindness and use God’s gift! Happy Reading, Dux

With a warm rhyme this book touches the heart. And narrative illustrations are simple, yet carry a truth that resonate is inevitable. This work approaches in a simple way a feature of our nature, the capacity of our consciousness to flow in love with ease and grace. I have no religion, yet I am in favor of the experience of Love as a high level of coherence, consciousness and bliss. In this so sweet, visual and almost poetic language, my heart resonated in the truth of what my life purpose is, to be an instrument of Love. Through all of my traveled paths, I have witnessed how children express this gift. Adults have accumulated resentments and it is our responsibility to resolve to return to love, and from there distort as little as possible the flowering of our loving children. We will also be able to teach them how to let go of their resentments, feel fuller. From the hand of self-awareness and self-love that radiates to others, happiness will result, which will expand the possibility of a better world.

God gives each of us, as his unique creations, special gifts when we are born. The Gift That I Can Give by Kathie Lee Gifford is designed to help children think about what ways they can love and encourage others through their unique gifts. I love the cover with the girl surrounded by butterflies and the gorgeous illustrations inside The Gift That I Can Give. This book has a few illustrations with fall leaves in shades of oranges and yellows that makes it especially fun to read this time of year--although I think it can be a hit with kids year around. I love that the children in the pictures are a variety of colors in their skins too, like real children are, so I like that it reflects the multi-cultural world we live in. I also like the rhyming prose with the uplifting, positive message that Kathie Lee Gifford gives to children. The Gift That I Can Give is so fun and uplifting with a good Christian message that doesn't come off as preachy. We have read it a few times at our house and really just enjoyed it. The Gift That I Can Give is a wonderful book with a great message! I appreciate that the gifts suggested included things that any child can do, not requiring specific talents or abilities. It was a great reminder to children that God has blessed them with a gift (or many gifts) and they should share it with as many people as possible. I can only hope that this book will help to create a mindset in kids that will carry over into adulthood. What a better society we would have if everyone remembered that we have gifts that can build others up. With Christmas coming, this would make a great present for any child. I received an advance PDF copy of the book from the publisher.

This is an absolutely delightful children’s book that explores vocations and the dreams of what one can be when one grows older. The author uses beautiful illustrations and an excellent rhythm that will attract the young readers as well as those growing a little and beginning to ask the question, “What will I be when I grow up?” Children often hear that they have a hidden talent and this charming book delves into how God gives each of His children a talent that they can use for Him. The writing is simple but eloquent in its revelation of God’s truth for all children. What a beautiful gift this would be for any child in anyone’s life! I can ‘t wait for the book to be released so that I can get a copy for my young grandchildren! The Gift That I Can Give by Kathie Lee Gifford Q: What did you like about the book? A: It was about how we‘re all made for something even if it’s really little like cheering on your friends. Q: What is the book about? A: It's the gift that you can give. Q: That's just the title of the book. A: But that's what its about too. Like you can give people things that aren't just toys and stuff. Something you can do for them that only you can do. Q: So how do you figure out what that is? A: As you grow and as you live, like it says in the book. Q: Did you learn anything? A: It seems like lots of kids like me wonder what they’re supposed to be good at but it’s like it’s okay not to know because you will figure it out as you go.

The Gift That I Can Give is a wonderful story to help your child learn to share God's love with others. It can be a great springboard to talk with your child about how they are uniquely gifted, how they can reach out to others to encourage them, and how they can show love to the people in their own home and neighborhood. The pictures are adorable. The writing is perfect for your little ones to comprehend. I will be purchasing a copy to keep in my 'Gigi' library to read to my grandchildren. *I was provided a digital advance readers copy from the publisher.
