She weaved us a humorous novella and I laughed and laughed while I was reading it . What would you think of when you hear love potion, Yes magic. A young lady did not want to wait on Harlan to tell her he loved her and to propose to her. Yes Gingerbread cookies made for Harlan. I love the two main characters Maddie and Harlan , both was well written and easy to follow. Be sure and pick up your copy and read more about Maddie and Harlan. I was given this book by the author for my honest review.

If you are looking for a fun, sweet Christmas story that will have you giggling, look no further. The Gingerbread Bride is such a cute story! Harlan is a heartwarming hero and Maddie is a flustered young lady who regrets an impulsive decision. She is now trying her hardest to make things right, but her doing so makes for a truly fun ride. Cute Romance! This novella takes place in the Ozark Mountains, Arkansas in the year 1870, on Christmas Eve. Maddie Sinclair is in love with Harlan Calhoun.  She will go to great lengths to get Harlan to love her back.  Maddie comes up with an excellent idea in which to make that happen.  After she puts her plan in place she immediately regrets the decision she made.  Is this decision reversible? Harlan Calhoun secretly adores Maddie Sinclair.  He hopes to ask her to marry him soon.  So, he sets out to put his plan in place.  He doesn’t know about Maddie’s plan but he does know she is acting a little strange around him.  She seems a little nervous.  What is up with Maddie? This was a delightful story.  I really enjoyed it. Author Amy Lillard has a gift for storytelling.  I have read all of her Amish fiction novels.  I am looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.

The Gingerbread Bride By: Amy Lillard I love Amy's books, this novella was really sweet. A sweet love story. Maddie decides she loves a guy and goes out of her way to seek help to have him to fall in love with her. A lesson of having faith and trust in God for what should be ends her into all kinds of troubles. Wonder if there will be my gingerbread cookies in the future? Great novella and loved the characters. I love Christmas stories.

Maddie was in love with Harlan and wanted to be sure he felt the same way. In this historical fiction, which takes place in 1870 in the Ozarks in Alabama, an old woman convinces Maddie she has a love potion that will do the trick. Maddie begins to feel guilty about what she has done to cause Harlan to have strong feelings about her and is convinced those feelings stem from her love potion. This story is probably very true to the period and is a sweet story that will keep your attention. Perhaps is was a bit too hard to convince Maddie of Harlan’s feelings than it could have been, but I enjoyed the story and Amy Lillard’s books have always been enjoyable to me. I received an ebook copy of The Gingerbread Bride for my honest review, which I have given. This book is part of a 12 part series in the called The Heartland Brides.

Maddie Sinclair loves Harlan Calhoun and will do anything to gain his attention and love. She gets crazy one day and visits an eccentric woman who lives in the Ozark Mountains. The woman sells her a “love potion”. Maddie bakes the herbs into a batch of cookies that Harlan eats. When Harlan proposes, Maddie is unsure if it was the herbs or his heart talking? Did her plan backfire? Amy Lillard produced an adorable, witty, and well-written story. I fell in love with the characters from the start and could not wait to see what happened next. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romance…what better way to get into the holiday spirit!

A sweet short story on how one mistake can blind us to the truth right in front of us. Taking things into your own hands instead of trusting God only causes trouble. But some of us learn that the hard way. The Gingerbread Bride is book number six of the 12 Brides of Christmas Series. Maddie Sinclair loves Harlan Calhoun and can’t wait for him to return her love. Instead of being patient Maddie decides to try and take matters into her own hands by baking a herbal concoction into a batch of Gingerbread cookies. When Harlan proposes, Maddie is scared that she ruined everything. Can Maddie forgive herself for what she’s done? Does Harlan really love her or was it just the love potion? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a quick satisfying read. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing in return for my honest option. All opinions expressed are my own.

What  A Gingerbread Treat ! ! The Gingerbread Bride is the sixth book in The 12 Brides of Christmas Series.  This story begins on Christmas eve, 1870 in the tiny town of Calico Falls in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. Madeline Joy Sinclair has had her eye on Harlan Calhoun for awhile now as the man she loves and wants to marry. Maddie feels she is not the prettiest of the two sisters in the household. Maddie thinks she needs a little help in getting Harlan to fall  in love with her as her prayers are not being answered quite fast enough for her. Maddie feels  maybe the Old Lady Farley can help her with making it happen faster. She barters for some herbs  that are suppose to be a "Love Potion" to help Harlan fall in love with her on Christmas Eve. Harlan  is invited to supper and Maddie serves him a generous portion of Gingerbread laced cookies made  with Miss Farley's "Love Potion". When Maddies older sister Grace finds her out, she makes Maddie feel guilty about not trusting the Lord to answer her prayers and the evening is now laced with antics  to keep Harlan from asking Pastor Sinclair, Maddies father, for Maddies hand in marriage. Harlan  had been planning on proposing on Christmas Eve all along but Maddie now won't believe that  the "Love Potion" hasn't tricked him into proposing. This was so fun watching how many ways  Maddie and her sister tried to stop Harlan from proposing while under the influence of the potion. I really enjoyed this sweet romantic Christmas story and I think you will too. I was gifted The Gingerbread Bride from Barbour Publishing for my honest opinion which I have given.

Beware of the gingerbread cookies!! This cute, humorous and charming tale of love and misunderstanding gave me that “feel good” Christmas spirit.  I was giggling with the banter and antics of the sisters, the poor boy who just wanted to fulfill his Christmas Eve wish and the father who had no clue what was going on. Maddie loves Harlan but doesn’t think he feels the same way for her – so she goes to desperate measures!  Poor Harlan is just trying to declare his love – will they be able to correct the misunderstanding? Will everyone forgive her?   This was well written and flowed throughout the story. It is full of Christmas spirit and family love. I recommend!   I received this book for an honest review.

It was a little silly, but okay.
