I couldnt put the book down till I finished the 3 novels, the novella, and all the extras. I am blown away by the author's storytelling and world building. Her mind comes up with the most amazing characters, twisted relationships, and unique plots. Then she weaves it all together with a combinations of adjectives and descriptions that I've never read on a page before. I was Never Bored! I'll confess to being confused and uncertain what was happening a lot of the time, but so were many of her characters. I discovered connection and meaning right along with them, as the author chose to reveal them. The word masterpiece comes to mind and I've never described any writing that way before, but for me it fits. Do yourself a favor and read this book!

It's been a while since I picked up an anthology and I happened to stumble upon this is the store. I really enjoyed the stories and how each one was carried through from book to book. I loved #1 & #3, but I loved Sieh and his character.  All in all there we three great books and a wonderfully done novella, each with a distinct voice telling each story. Very fun and entertaining.

I purchased this trilogy based upon the decent reviews, and I was looking forward to an new set of fantasy novels to read. I hate to say that this trilogy is very disappointing. The story itself, the characters, and the universe it is set in, are very interesting and compelling. It is a unique fantasy story unlike other fantasy novels I have read before. The ideas are neat. However, I found the author's voice/writing style to be extremely distracting and juvenile. The author spends a lot of time explaining very obvious ideas or concepts in great detail from a character first-person point-of-view. A scene or event will happen in the story, and rather than allowing the reader to glean information from the event themselves, the author takes the time to have the main characters explain things in minute detail that are so obvious to me as the reader from whatever scene or event just took place. Each time this happens (and it is often), I find myself completely distracted by the fact that these details are being explained to me in this manner. I will be honest that it has caused me to put this series down in frustration and not return to it in the middle of book 2. I do not know if I will have the patience to finish it out, which is disappointing because the story concept is interesting. Because of this "everything-overly-explained" writing style, it made me ponder if this series is meant to be YA (like 11-14 age range?), but I'm not sure that would be accurate as there are sexual scenes of an adult nature that could be a little graphic for a young reader, and I'm sure many parents may find those scenes too adult for a younger audience. I'm not exactly sure who the audience is for these novels... TL;DR: Story is interesting; writing style is not great to the point that I don't think I can finish the trilogy

This set of books started out a little iffy to me and then it just got worse. I had hopes after reading the reviews by others that this was a book I would actually enjoy. I am left very disappointed by the trilogy………
