This book is the perfect thing to pick up for the New Year! The diet is very straight forward and manageable. Dr. Travis takes the time to explain, not only what food is good for you, but why it helps. Understanding how certain foods negatively affect me has made it easier to turn down unhealthy options. I've been following this plan for a week now and already feel more energized, less bloated, and my clothes fit better. The best part is this is an eating plan that doesn't have strict restrictions so I can easily see this becoming my lifestyle and not just a temporary "diet." Plus there are some delicious recipes in the back! I recommend this book for anyone looking to lose weight in 2017.

Great book. I actually decided to buy it after reading one of the bad reviews. If we didn't have the bad reviews, we wouldn't get the truth. This is actually an excellent book and filled with a host of information! I love the information about friendly fats. So, I am very happy that I did get it. I also bought The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution based on one of the reviews, which nobody should ever attempt to use any diet or weight loss plan without referring to this book first. Both books actually work well together, which surprised me. The tips in Hungry Chick about how to show your local grocery store is amazing. And when you pair the use of probiotics from Lose Your Belly with what The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution says to ensure you are drinking enough water is worth its weight in gold. I have been following this method for the last week and I have honestly never felt better. I lost three pounds, but I am feeling the difference in my skin during these winter months when I struggled with staying moisturized. I thought you only had to drink enough water in the summer. If you can't afford to buy both, buy one and borrow the other but read them both.

The research backing its concepts is compelling, and I, for one, have experienced real results already. If you're looking to lose weight, feel better and understand how to make educated food choices, this is the book for you!

The recipes are all made with real food. Good stuff, simple, the basics that combine to make a delicious dish. The explanations are clear and written so anyone can understand why we need to eat this way. Good job, Doc.

I hate to give bad reviews, but when it comes to this book, I am asking myself why does it even exist. The reason why I was so angry when I saw this book is because while I love the show, I tried the last book from Dr. Travis, The Doctor's Diet and I struggled every day for weeks and nothing happened. Then, to hear that Dr. Travis is coming out with another book, I could have used my money on something better. I even went to the store this weekend to check it out. It's still nothing there for me once again. I won't lie, I am one of those people that have struggled with my weight and I want to do something. There are so many other programs and things that I could have done. If the first book was so good, why did Dr. Travis even have to come out with another one? If I had known, I would have tried the Smash Diet from Dr. Ian Smith that my friend at work is using. I could have joined Weight Watchers with my bestie, but I don't like the point system. It sucks. My sister used the Hungry Chick Diet Solution from Chef Jai that everybody is talking about and she saw results that first week. I should have listened. I should have bought that book. Anything but this! If anybody uses this book or anything else and it helps, please post and let me know. I am struggling.

This was a good diet book but not as much new information as I would have hoped for. However, it does help me to be reminded of good eating habits. Even though I have heard the information before, I find it helpful when I learn a new reason why those healthy choices are good. It keeps me motivated to continue to make healthy choices. I would recommend this book to any health conscious individual. I received this galley from NetGalley.

WOW what a different take on weight loss!! I followed Dr. Travis's "Doctor's Diet" a couple years ago, and I was curious what would be different about this book. What's cool is that this one really just builds on the Doctor's Diet, with the new research that's out about the gut microbiome. (Who even knew what that was?!) I'm also fascinated by the fact that antibiotics have probably killed off all my gut bacteria over the years...but now I'm replacing them with all the foods Dr. Travis suggests. I've started dropping those holiday pounds already with this diet, and I'm excited to continue it as my new lifestyle. Highly recommend!

Making the connection between weight loss and gut health--amazing. I haven't been able to lose those last 15 pounds of baby weight, AND I've been suffering with GI issues on and off for most of my life. I feel like this book is the answer to my prayers. In the short time that I've been following its guidelines, I already feel so much better. My bloating is improved, and without getting too specific, my stomach problems are so much better. I really want to shout from the rooftops that, if you give this plan a chance, this book holds the key that could change your life. I never realized just how much my issues were bothering me, and how they drained my energy. Now I feel more energetic, even at the end of a long day, and I'm also loving what I'm seeing on the scale and in how my clothes fit. I know it sometimes feels like a lot of information in this book, but if you don't want to learn all the info backing it, you can always just go right to do the diet and start eating the foods he suggests. If you're on the fence about giving it a try, let me encourage you!! It's worth the nominal investment to improve your health and weight!!

Was anxious to read this book since it was mentioned on Dr. Phil. It had some good information, but I should have skipped ahead to the actual foods you should eat. Half of the foods mentioned I have not even heard of. This book is unrealistic for "real" people needing to loose weight. I was very disappointed - don't waste your money. I should have just stuck to my gut and bought only Oprah's book. Beautiful book.

This book is great. I am very surprised by some of the negativity. Give it a try. I had some major digestive problems due to cancer. Even though I am now cancer free, I continued with digestive issues. Since starting this diet, my gut is so much better. I am so thankful as I finally feel better and couldn't be happier. The holiday weight has also dropped off-- definitely a bonus. Thank you Dr. Stork.
