The Pacific - Music from the HBO Miniseries

The Pacific - Music from the HBO Miniseries

by Geoff Zanelli

The Pacific tracks the intertwined real-life journeys of three U.S. Marines - Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda) - across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theater during World War II. The HBO miniseries follows these men and their fellow Marines from their first battle with the Japanese on Guadalcanal, through the rain forests of Cape Gloucester and the strongholds of Peleliu, across the bloody sands of Iwo Jima and through the horror of Okinawa, and finally to their triumphant but uneasy return home after V-J Day.

The music featured in this miniseries is by award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer, and Geoff Zanelli and Blake Neely. Zimmer has composed music for more than 100 films, including the blockbusters The Lion King, Rain Man, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Dark Knight. -- From the Label

This is truly a remarkable soundtrack. I have had it only a short time but it has taken centerstage in my collection. I have listened, and listened, and listened and just can't get enough of it. Not having the chance to watch the HBO Miniseries, it has whetted my desire to own the miniseries when it becomes available. The soundtrack reminds me of the music from Band of Brothers, but it also truly reminds me of the soundtrack from Gettysburg! I would highly recommend this soundtrack to everyone.
