Overview

Brutal murders. An ancient treasure. A rogue state.

A young acquaintance of nonverbal communications expert Doctor Genevieve Lenard begs her to look into the disappearance of his friend. When the friend’s tortured body is found in a forest outside Strasbourg, the case leads Genevieve and her team to the body of a second victim with many unusual secrets—a forged masterpiece the least surprising of them all; an ancient treasure shrouded in mystery the most intriguing.

While Genevieve is frantically searching for a motivation behind the murders, more tortured bodies are dumped in the forests surrounding the city—all connected to her young acquaintance. And the moment she discovers that the evidence points to a rogue state, her young acquaintance also disappears.

Without knowing who the killer is and why he’s torturing his victims, there will be no stopping him. Or saving her friend from vicious suffering and eventual death.

This writer continues to write excellent stories about Genevieve Lenard, a highly functioning autistic person, specializing in the solving of complicated crimes involving art. She (the author) obviously knows a lot about art as well as autism. I will anxiously await her next novel.

It is never enough! Start with the 1st book because you will want to read the whole series. Each book can stand alone but the cast of characters expands and each one adds depth to the series. The characters are complex and slightly flawed but each is an important part of each the overall story line! The plots are detailed and well thought out. Love the series and can’t wait for the next book to be released!

What a great storyline. Keeps you guessing until near the end. The characters are like old friends, and you can't wait to see what is happening with them. Loved it!

I love this series! The f bomb needs to be removed, but that didn't stop me from reading all 12 books in a row. I'm ready for the next book!!

Side characters in this book don't need the fleshing out author normally gives characters. Keeps the pace of the book going. Could not put this one down. Fantastic author. Does an unbelievable amount of research, especially on this book.

Estelle Ryan is a wonderful writer, who writes stories that are hard to put down. The research that goes into each book is staggering and it's no wonder we have to wait "too long" between books. I can't wait to see what happens in her next book. Ms Ryan's books are better than Calgon! Kathleen - Wichita, KS

Caelan's friend is missing. He asks Dr. G and the team to help find him. When they start investigating they find crates of wine. Only the bottles aren't filled with wine but drugs. When more young people are found murdered they must provide protection for them until case is solved. Estelle has written another exciting book. Given 4 stars because I feel some of the new characters were not developed enough. Looking forward to the next adventure. joy943

As with all her books I really like this one. It was a bit short, but the story was still what we have come to expect. I do prefer a bit longer stories so we really get into the characters, but I am not sorry I bought this, I did enjoy it.

Love series, but not as good as others

To say that I am addicted to these books and their characters would be an understatement. I know that is the reason I am disappointed in this, the newest episode. There were many characters who haven’t appeared before, but they are not as fully developed as usual. This makes it even harder to follow the twists and turns of the plot. Also, it seemed a bit formulaic, which is something I had noticed before. That said, I like the formula, and will continue to buy her books unless she returns to a full sized format and does what she is best at, character development.
