The School Carnival from The Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler is a great and easy book for anyone to read. It tells about a boy and his classmates have to make booths for the school carnival and they came up with all these ideas like a kissing, bakery, cakewalk, fortuneteller, basketball shoot, and a dunking tank booth. But as there getting all of these things ready the kid who is the dunkee is scared and also doesn’t know how to swim. But before he could even think about learning how to swim he had to create the dunk tank. So how he built the dunk tank is first the got a plastic pool and fill it with water and then attach a chair to a hinged platform held up by a stick the they tied a cord around the stick and attach the other end to a spring of a mousetrap. So now we are in the story where he has to learn how to swim before the carnival. So he gets a teacher named miss titanic and she tells him that there is nothing to be afraid of. well Hubie are main character is brave and faces his fears and now knows how to swim just enough for the carnival. So the carnival is here the next day and Hubie is scared that he will be dunked but soon figures out that he is impossible to hit until one thing that you will have to buy the book to find out.
