In this remarkable memoir-written during her pivotal first years of becoming her authentic self-Caitlyn Jenner reflects on her past as she looks to her future.
"Imagine denying your core and soul. Then add to it the most impossible expectations that people have for you because you are the personification of The American Male Athlete."
Bruce Jenner, the celebrated Olympic icon and later the patriarch of one of the most famous families in the world, seemed to be living a dream life of success, fame, and prosperity. But the all-American image and million-dollar smile belied a lifelong struggle with gender dysphoria, and it wasn't until the sensational Diane Sawyer interview that the public mask of Bruce Jenner was finally retired, and through the memorable Vanity Fair piece by Buzz Bissinger, that Caitlyn Jenner was introduced to the world and set free to exist on her own terms. Since then, Caitlyn has undertaken an arduous emotional and physical odyssey to achieve the completeness she always felt was missing.
In THE SECRETS OF MY LIFE, Caitlyn reflects on the inner conflict she experienced growing up in an era of rigidly defined gender identities, and the cruel irony of being hailed by an entire nation as the ultimate symbol of manhood. She recounts her Olympic triumph, her rise to fame, and relates how her sense of frustration and shame grew with the passing years and the lengths to which she had to go to conceal her true self. Caitlyn in turn uncovers the toll that these personal struggles had on her three marriages and, subsequently, the relationships with her children. She also talks candidly about her life in the public eye as a member of the Kardashian clan, what led to her decision to become Caitlyn, and how she, her family, the transgender community, and the rest of the world has since embraced her new life.
Filled with incredibly personal and moving stories of struggle and victory, of anxiety and fear, and, finally, of surrender and acceptance, THE SECRETS OF MY LIFE reveals the real Caitlyn Jenner by tracing her long and eventful journey to becoming herself.

Held my attention throughout most of the book. Having recently read Linda Thompsons book, it was interesting to see how both Bruce and Linda dealt with the gender issue. Quite brave of Caitlyn to be so frank in telling her story and admitting to being an absentee parent to the first four Jenner children. I give Bruce credit for hanging in there for those last years of KUWTK show where he was made to look so unimportant in that household. His story, her story, it is all quite fascinating!
As a self proclaimed pop culture/Kardashian follower (go ahead and judge, it's fine), I was on the fence about reading this book. After reading Bruce/Caitlyn's ex-wife Linda's memoir, I was pleasantly surprised by her humility, and decided to give this a go. Caitlin is open, honest (painfully so to members of her family, I would assume), and just downright interesting - even if it's in a morbidly curious way. She does seem to think the world revolves around her, but if you can get over that point, it is an interesting, guilty-pleasure, quick and easy read.
What an eye opener. I hope many people use this book as an education. Thanks Caitlin for sharing your story.
I enjoyed it
Really not DEEP at all.
I don't know what book Kris and Kim Kardashian read, but it was not this book. Kim tells everyone in the 6-4-17 airing of keeping up with the Kardashians that Caitlyn bashes Kris and the Kardashians. Read it again Kim. He takes responsibility for things. He talks about distance from the Kardashians for the Diane Sawyer interview because he didn't want people to think it was a publicity stunt. It would have looked like it was to get ratings for the show. We all watched how his marriage to your Mom fell apart, it happened on TV, every Sunday night. Grow up and see someone else's side.
From the front cover to the back, Cait's new book is a real page turner! I could have easily read it one day but apparently you have to feed your kids everyday, who knew! lol You'll learn more about Cait's childhood, her success as the all American male athlete, her three marriages, her relationship with her family and her inner struggle for 65 years with who she really is!! I love how open and honest she is and that she is willing to admit to her mistakes and apologise for them. To her critics out there, please let us all know when you are perfect!!! Buy the book it's worth every single cent and then some!!!!!
Hello to anyone who is looking at these reviews for this book. I just read this sample and it's really good. I have not gotten the actual book yet, but i think i am going to. You guys should really get this book, it really shows a lot about how people who want to be one gender but they are the other gender don't really speak out about what they are going through and i think this book really shows a lot about the people who struggling to find out what gender they are. So i think you should read this book.
Jenner will do anything for money. I understand the whole transgender thing but when you have family you should think before having kids. First Jenner got an award..for what???!!! Then Jenner gets own show. Now this book and Jenners family doesn't deserve this. Btw when is the voice going to change because it's ridiculous
I agree! Please post on other books, yall
