Leah Howland is a survivor. And a deserter. After three numbing years, she has forsaken her husband and escaped to mythical Ireland where a stalker leaves her calling cards that are eerie and increasingly gruesome. Shadowed by the legend of the warrior hero Cúchulainn and preyed upon by her own escalating imagination, Leah finds her escape is turning into a virtual prison of chilling mind-games and cold-hearted crimes.

About the Author

LAURA TREACY BENTLEY is a fan of Eva Cassidy, Ray Bradbury, ONCE the movie/musical, snickerdoodles, cheap red wine, and a good cup of café au lait. She'd like to be the first writer on the moon (maybe), have brunch with Meryl Streep (definitely), and take a ride around the block in a Bentley, but would settle for the hood ornament instead. Laura's first novel, THE SILVER TATTOO, is a dark literary thriller set in mythical Ireland. She is a poet and the book editor ("Conversations") for WV LIVING magazine and divides her time between the beautiful mountains of West Virginia and western Maryland. Her work has appeared in the United States and Ireland, and her first book of poetry, LAKE EFFECT, was published in 2006. One of her poems, "Keepsake," was chosen by the editors of O MAGAZINE and is featured on Oprah's website.

I've never been to Ireland, but this book makes we want to go there and see it for myself, thanks to the amazing descriptions of the cliffs and countryside. The Silver Tattoo is a whirlwind ride that left me wondering what was around the corner for main character, Leah. The way the author weaved Leah's fate with an old Irish legend added a bit of magic to the book that kept me wondering how this story would end. I'll be looking for more books by this author. She's a truly gifted and talented writer.
