Some children's books are written especially for children. The words and illustrations are designed to capture the attention of the child as the parent reads to them. Other children's books are written with the momma in mind. The Wonder That Is You was written for the mommas. The precious message goes right to the heart of the new mother expressing all those beautiful hopes and dreams that we have as we cuddle our new little one. If you purchase books for new baby gifts, this one needs to be on your list. It is beautifully illustrated and the verses are tender and touching. It will be a lovely gift to the new momma over and over again as she reads the book to her sweet new baby. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Title: The Wonder That Is You Written by Glenys Nellist Illustrated by Aurelie Blanz Though it has been over thirty-three years since the birth of my last baby, this sweet book brought every emotion awake as I pondered the wonder again. I couldn’t help joining creation’s chorus as I read the lyrical prose aloud. The cadence will truly sing over your child as loved and welcomed. The illustrations are whimsical, bright and softly add to each page’s verse. The idea of creation singing over their wonderful arrival touched a chord in me as I heard my Heavenly Father sing over me as His beloved. Glenys Nellist has captured the delight and wonder as a parent and the precious love of a child. So much that I think this book will surely be a favorite read-aloud throughout childhood and beyond. The Wonder That is You is a precious song to sing over your children. I believe the depth of its message will resonate as they grow to discover a Heavenly Father who delights, sings over them, and quiets them with His love. Reviewed my Jeanne Doyon

The Day Everything Changed! Have you experienced the difference a new child makes in your life? If so, remember how the world around you was transformed. Suddenly, the universe looks different, everything is seen and heard in a new way, your outlook shifts, and life is never the same. Such are some of the changes and joy that a new parent feels with the addition of a baby. The author recalls the day her world changed saying, “this is such a special book to me, because it's based on the true story of the day my eldest son was born. It felt as if all creation rejoiced with me!” Ms. Nellist has written a lovely book that describes the differences that took place in her world after the birth of her son. She uses rhyming verse to express the feelings of wonder, awe and blessing a new life brings—all presented in an oversized hard-backed volume with colorful illustrations on every page. The Queen of England liked this so much she stated, "The Wonder That is You will make the perfect gift for Archie Harrison's christening next month, and also, the flowers on the cover just happen to match my favorite yellow suit. I couldn't resist reaching out to British author Glenys Nellist and her team at Zonderkidz to request a copy of my own. Now I just have to get Phil to help me wrap it." Read this to your child so they know the joy and delight they bring to life. Just like her Majesty, you too can gift this to anyone with a new addition in their life. I recommend sharing this 5-star book with the prized little one in your life! Zonderkidz and the author have provided bookreadingtic with a complimentary copy of The Wonder That is You! for the purpose of review. I have not been compensated in any other manner. I love all of Glenys Nellist's books, but "The Wonder That Is You" is now my favorite! She captures so beautifully how full my heart was as I held my new daughter, Hannah...and that was 25 years ago! This book is perfect for all who have welcomed a new baby into the family whether through childbirth OR adoption: parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and siblings. The color leaps off the pages and the faces Aurelie Blanz drew are absolutely adorable! As I await a new nephew the end of October, I know what his family will be receiving!

“It felt as if the world stood still The day my dream came true, And all creation paused to see … The wonder that is you,” the poem ends in Glenys Nellist’s children’s book, The Wonder That Is You. ~ What ~ This unnumbered oversized thirty-two-page hardbound with a paper cover jacket targets children four to eight years old who enjoy reading about a mother’s love for her child. With no scary scenes, it would best be read out loud to beginner readers due to some of the complicated three syllable words. After dedication and ownership pages, this rhyming story is a mother’s dream of the excitement, anticipation, and celebration when her baby is brought into the world. While stars smile, sunlight dances, trees clap, flowers nod, ocean surges, birds sing, rivers chuckle, and the moon sparkles, creation takes note of the special bond a mother has for her expected child. The brightly-colored painted illustrations are expressive and engaging with enough detail to keep a young one interested. ~ Why ~ The illustrator of this book did an exceptional job creating captivating animals and nature that stop and wait for a baby’s birth while the mother yearns to hold, hug, and love her babe. Using vibrant colors and sing-songy rhymes, little ones will enjoy looking at the beautiful artwork of swans, butterflies, birds, deer, fish, frogs, bunnies, flowers, and forests while listening to a story of love. ~ Why No Those who are not parents or do not have children may not appreciate this book and its concentration on a mother’s love. Some may not understand how nature, animals, and creation play a part in the theme of love, but the words flow together nicely. ~ Wish ~ I wish a reference to God being the Creator of all things were incorporated into the story. ~ Want ~ If you want to give a thoughtful gift to a mother-to-be or newborn that honors the love of a parent for her child, this would be a lovely, cherished gift. Thanks to Z-Blog Squad for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

I have had a long standing reviewer relationship with author Glenys Nellist. She has written so many beautiful books where the words speak to the reader and the illustrations draw you in. As I read “The Wonder That Is You”, all I could think was, “She did it again! She captured exactly how every mother feels when they hold their first child for the first time!” I could relate to every word so poetically written, and I could feel my heart well up as I read it to my two children. As always, Glenys has paired up with an amazingly, talented illustrator whose illustrations enhance the story beautifully. The simple, poetic words layered on the beautiful illustrations make this a wonderful gift to give to any new mother. It is definitely a requirement for any child’s bookshelf so they can see and hear how their mother felt the moment she held them for the first time.

Beautifully illustrated, and touching without being overly sappy. If you are looking for a warm, fuzzy book to gift to a new mother and her baby, this is the perfect one!

Glenys Nellist captures the feeling that parents have when their child is born, one of time standing still, and God's creation taking notice. The world is a different place forever after. The lyrical text brought me back to the time, many years ago, when my eldest daughter was born. The beautiful artwork by Aurelie Blanz features reds, pinks, and purples mixed with deep blues and greens and bright yellows showing mothers cudding, carrying, and announcing the birth to all creation. This touching picture book can be enjoyed by any age (I'm a grandmother) but is an especially perfect gift for a baby shower or newborn.
