Absolutely wonderful in true Samantha Chase fashion.

While browsing for books to read, I saw this, drawn to the cover and the story did sound good. Then I was like, nah maybe I'll read it next time. So of course as I was getting more books to read, I still saw this on the shelf and was like, you know what, I'll read a chapter or two, see if its good. As soon as I started to read a couple of chapters, I forgot about the other books I was going to read and just wanted to read this one. While I didn't know this was part of a series, I liked the characters that I want to read the other books in the series. This was a really good read and I liked how the story was progressing, including the character development for Riley and Savannah. And wow was the emotions halfway at the end there. If you like contemporary romances, then you'll like this one. Though probably read the other books first then this.

Sniff, sniff, darn these tears….. I can's see to type. I just finished Samantha Chase’s latest book, This is Our Song. This is Riley Shaughnessy and Savannah Daly’s story, and what a story it is. It is definitely, a tear jerker from beginning to end. This is a fabulous book of love, not only between Riley and Savannah, but also between family. I do not want to give anything away, but I LOVE the way Riley’s mom comes into the story and how she was the rock that helped him to build his career in music. Let me say this, the tears were rolling down my face when Riley played the song Always You and then the encore they came even harder. Thank you, Ms. Chase for this emotional story, I loved every single word. I was gifted with the opportunity to read a copy of this fabulous book before it was released, for this I am eternally grateful. I LOVE a book that can emotionally suck me in the way this one did from beginning to end. OMG!!! Samantha Chase, the Audible version is even worse than the book!!! STOP..... PLEASE KEEP READING! THIS IS A GOOD THING!!! I PROMISE. I read the digital version of this book in November, 2016 and loved every wonderful, emotional word. The tears flowed in a few places, but the Audible version, it was even worse for me, but in my book this is an excellent thing. This is an extremely emotional book, and listening to the audio version hit me even harder than reading the words. This time they started at the funeral! I loved listening to Christopher Kipiniak and Julia Motyka narrate this book. I had a small problem at the beginning, because for some reason, in my head, Riley sounded different. The cadence that Mr. Kipiniak portrayed with Riley seemed off to me at first. After the first chapter, however, I was totally into this wonderful book!!! They brought to book to life. Kudos Samantha, I won't say this version is better, but just a spectacular! Thank you again for writing spectacular books for your fans to enjoy.  Thank you for reading my review.

Riley Shaughnessy finally gets his story!! And what a beautiful story it is. "This is Our Song" had me in tears with lots of smiles and cheering for Samantha Chase's latest tender romance of a Shaughnessy sibling. Savannah's job is to write an expose on Riley for her magazine, but not only do we get sparks between them, but the well written tenderness of two people falling in love. Through the ups and downs of life in the spotlight and the dynamics of a family that is always there for each other, Riley and Savannah will find their happiness. It is always great to see other siblings from previous stories make their appearance, but the story stands on its own. I highly recommend "This is Our Song" for anyone that loves a great story of sweet romance. 5 Stars!!

This Is Our Song by Samantha Chase is book number four in the Shaughnessy Brothers series. This is rock star Riley Shaughnessy and reporter Savannah Daly's story. Riley is in a slump with his music. He is forced to do an interview with reporter Savannah Daly. Savannah is not happy about this assignment. She is not impressed by him or his reputation. After spending a month with Riley and his family will Savannah see a different Riley than what the press reports? Samantha Chase has a way of getting your attention and keeping it throughout the story. I loved Riley and Savannah's story. This is a great book to curl up with and escape from everyday struggles. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Riley is struggling to make his new solo album. When he is firmly asked to do an interview with a magazine, he never expected Savannah. He hopes this may put the rumors to rest, but is also determined not to let her know the real him. Yet, that's exactly what she gets. The chemistry between the two is amazing. This story makes you laugh, makes you cry, and makes you wish it would never end. I loved it from beginning to end!

Sweet, sexy & delightful! He was a living, breathing fantasy. Her own rock and roll fantasy at that! And every minute of every day it was getting more and more difficult to ignore the attraction brewing between them. Samantha Chase gives legendary rock-star Riley Shaughnessy his own happy-ever-after in This Is Our Song. The book’s leading lady is entertainment reporter Savannah Daly. The couple’s entertaining story takes place on two coasts - in both California and North Carolina. Even though this is the fourth installment in the series, This Is Our Song can be fully enjoyed as a standalone as the romantic relationship is fully contained within this novel. I’m betting that once you read This Is Our Song, you will want to catch up with the series. Each book has been a page-turner. As the story opens, we learn that Riley Shaughnessy is struggling. He’s hit a brick wall while working on songs for his solo album. For the first time in his life, the music isn’t there for Riley. Regardless, Riley is being pressured by his manager and his record label to get the album done. His manager decides that Riley needs a cathartic push to break the frustrating creative funk he is experiencing. So… the manager sets up a month-long stint with an entertainment reporter for Rock The World magazine with a promised extensive multi-episode end product. Riley doesn’t care for reporters and doesn’t need nor want the interference now. Savannah Daly doesn’t like Riley or Riley’s band. She believes Riley to be like other rock stars she’s written about - a spoiled rich brat. When her boss tells her in no uncertain terms he’s pulling her off a story she really wanted, to do a story on Riley Shaughnessy, she’s understandably upset. Riley is my new book boyfriend. He’s a normal guy who just happens to be a rock star. AND he loves his family. He and Savannah had chemistry galore and I really enjoyed watching them grow to understand that they were perfect for each other. Just don’t expect smooth sailing along the way. The love and caring of family ties plays a very important part in this story as every Shaughnessy in the close-knit family is a supporting character. The Shaughnessys may play and tease each other but, when push comes to shove, the Shaughnessys have each other’s back. This Is Our Song is sweet, sexy and delightful and an enjoyable read from beginning to end. I would recommend This Is Our Song to anyone who enjoys cute and fun contemporary romances. I loved this book! I think Riley is my favorite Shaunessey brother! This book was so captivating. I literally could not put it down. Once I finished it I couldn't write my review right away I needed to think on it! I think my favorite part is Riley telling Savannah the significance of "Over The Rainbow" and him finally singing it at his concert was the part of this book that really touched me! I love books that can make me laugh and this one definitely had it's moments! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!!!

Oh, the feels you will feel! The tears started, for me, on page 2 and came full circle to the end. I've been waiting to read Riley's story and I loved every minute of it, even if I did want to smack both he and Savannah a time or two. She's stubborn, he's very insecure, especially for a rock star. There's some hard feelings and some butting of heads, but ultimately they are exactly what the other needs. The overlapping theme to all Ms. Chase's Shaughnessy books is love; of family and of couples. Coming from a musical family, with our own special affinity to Riley and his mom's song, I felt this story in my mind and in my heart. I really don't want to give anything away, but I think this book will hold a special place in your heart, too.

Fantastic Story! Samantha Chase outdid herself with this one. I was unable to put this piece of perfection down. This had it all, the angst, sweetness, explosive chemistry, the forbidden element, and raw sexiness. This story made me laugh, cry, swoon and I didn’t want it to end. I fell hard and fast for this story. Samantha Chase has a way with words, like a great artist has with paint, she creates a world that I love to visit, and sometimes would love to live in as I found myself with this story. This Captivated me and had me swooning! Riley Shaughnessy is not only a rock star but a genuinely caring, nice, sweet and sexy guy. For the first time in his life he is wowed by a woman, one who isn’t just sex, or another person wanting a piece of him, and he can’t fight his desire for Savannah Daly who has turned his world upside down in the short time since he met her. He finally had a perk to doing the interview his label was forcing on him. Savannah Daly is a writer for the music magazine, Rock The World, she has been assigned to do a multi edition piece on Riley Shaughnessy and has an all access month long pass, to work with him. But she only sees Riley as a pretty boy rock star that got lucky. She didn’t like him and didn’t want to do this piece. But how would she survive a month, if just one touch of his hand and one lingering smile practically stole her breath away. He knew how to schmooze and work the crowds and it rubbed her the wrong way, she knew it had to be an act, but she was hoping she was wrong. Samantha Chase manages to bring you right into the scene with these characters. Her descriptive use of language makes a scene very realistic and the emotions the characters are feeling believable. I love when the word can fade away and I’m pulled into another time and place absorbed in it. That is exactly how I felt while reading this. So heartfelt, sexy and extremely laugh out loud funny. A light entertaining read packed with Hotness! I loved every word and couldn’t put it down. Highly Recommended! I voluntarily requested and agreed to post an honest review of this Advance Reader copy of this book that I was gifted through NetGalley.

3.75 stars--THIS IS OUR SONG is the fourth installment in Samantha Chase’s THE SHAUGHNESSY BROTHERS romance series focusing on the Shaughnessy family. This is rock star Riley Shaughnessy, and entertainment reporter Savannah Daly’s story line. THIS IS OUR SONG can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. SOME BACKGROUND: Seventeen years earlier the Shaughnessy’s lost their mother to a drunk driver that left six siblings (including a one year old infant) without a mother. Fast forward to present day where the now adult children continue to struggle with the loss. Riley’s connection to his mother is blessed with musical memories and an endearing song. Told from dual third person perspectives (Riley and Savannah) THIS IS OUR SONG focuses on struggling rock star Riley Shaughnessy. Going solo should have been easy but one year earlier a scathing article debunking Riley’s stardom hit too close to home and our hero struggles to complete his latest album. To keep Riley in the spotlight, his publicist demands he willingly participates in a magazine interview that will find our hero falling in love with the entertainment reporter. Enter Savannah Daly-a journalist who goes into the interview with preconceived notions about Riley Shaughnessy, and a woman who battles her attraction to the man that calls to her heart. Riley is a world famous rock star whose solo career has come to a grinding halt. Unable to complete his latest album Riley’s recording contract is in jeopardy-writer’s block and a fractured ego add to Riley’s list of personal demons. Savannah is a journalist who is reluctant to participate in Riley’s comeback. Entering into the Shaughnessy circle of family and friends finds our heroine falling in love with the Shaughnessy family and the man who will steal her heart. But Riley and Savannah’s future lies in jeopardy when the past catches up and fractures the building love between our leading couple. The $ex scenes are implied and fade to black. All of the Shaughnessy brothers and sister Darcy, as well as patriarch Ian Shaughnessy and his girlfriend Martha play secondary and supporting roles. The Shaughnessy family continues to grow, and the next generation is close at hand. THIS IS OUR SONG is a sweet, romantic story of family and love; struggle and moving forward; forgiveness and letting go of the past. The premise is heartwarming; the characters are passionate; the romance is intimate without the use of sexual imagery or text. Samantha Chase’s THE SHAUGHNESSY BROTHERS is will captivate your imagination.

I had happy tears while reading This is Our Song by Samantha Chase. This might be one of the best books I’ve read lately. Ms. Chase just knows how to create a sweet story with two people needing to find that inner passion for their careers and life while finding love along the way. The manner in which she has created a family in which everyone is supportive of each other, no matter how difficult things seem is amazing. She had me wishing that while growing up my family was like the Shaughnessy family or Savannah’s family. Each family was encouraging, supportive, but most of all loving, with no strings attached, no matter what you did. Riley and Savannah were very fortunate. I think my favorite part of this book was Savannah realizing that Riley wasn’t all that she thought. That he was more than just a rock star, singer and song writer. This was a fun and entertaining story with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. I highly recommend this book to all readers. I truly enjoyed this book and had trouble putting it down. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. Although this book is part of a series it is a standalone story. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Oh goodness! I am kind of new to stories by Samantha Chase but I think this is one of my favorites this year by far, it is that good. Riley is the lead singer in a band and they have decided to go solo but for him, the songs aren't coming to him. Enter Samantha, who is assigned to write a story on him. This is a cute, sweet, and slow to burn romance that you will read over and over again.

My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: You know, I think I liked it better when you said stuff I couldn't understand. This getting right to the point is kind of hurtful. That was fun... I'm telling you some of the greatest moments of my day come when I get to freak my husband out... Sometimes I blame it on pregnancy hormones, other times it's just for my own amusement. My Review: I have enjoyed this series and continue to be more than a bit in love with this complicated family. Riley was a famous rock star working on his first solo attempt, but he had been floundering after losing his muse following a disappointing and embarrassing media drubbing/snubbing and had been struggling with more than a bruised ego for nearly a year. He was not eager to jump onboard when his record label pressured him to submit to an in-depth feature article, well, that was, until he met the intriguing and sexy journalist. Gear up for family banter, humor, steam, angst, heart squeezes, and a chance to catch up with the rest of that prodigious Shaughnessy clan.

To say I loved this book is a serious understatement. It has everything from a reporter with a chip on her shoulder, to a sexy rockstar who's got the equivalent of writers block. Riley and Savannah just might be one of my favorite book couples. They start out as almost enemies, but the sexual tension just builds from there. I think the thing I loved most about them was they were realistic. They faced problems that people would face in real life (pressures of the job, working with someone you can't stand, one has a tragic past). I loved that Savannah brought out a side of Riley that he had been looking for, and helped him through his issues. And, did I mention we get to see a lot of the Shaughnessy family in this book?? It was so great catching up with their stories, and seeing how the author has each couple progressing. This book is definitely a must read!!!

All I can say is that I have a new book boyfriend, His name is Riley Shaughnessy. Riley is a rock star, trying to reinvent himself, he is having a hard time writing/performing until he meets reporter, Savannah Daly, who is going to spend time with Riley getting the interview she can. The story starts in California but we soon end up in North Carolina, with the rest of the Shaughnessy family. ( Oh how I love this family!!) A wonderful fun, supportive and caring family who lost their mom when they were young. Riley won my heart out on the airplane trip across country, so supportive of Savannah's fear of flying, big swooning here. Riley soon finds out, he can now write and perform his music much better with Savannah around. Soon a secret comes out about Savannah, that could destroy their relationship. I promise this story will have you loving the relationship of Riley and Savannah, what they can bring out in each other. The love of family ties is very strong in this story. On a side note have a box of kleenex close by as you will be shedding tears with the wonderful story telling of Samantha Chase.

What and outstanding read. Samantha has a way of writing such wholesome stories and I would recommend any of her books. She never disappoints. Onto the review. This was a fast read for me and I wasn't really enjoying their story. I loved how much all of the Shaughnessy's were even involved in this story. At different times this book gave me chills and I even got teary eyed a few times. If there was a cd actually released, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

4 1/2 STARS! With the next story in The Shaughnessy Brothers series, Samantha Chase continues her unique way of weaving a story that has us falling in love with this big, boisterous family again and again! We got a good look at the rock star of the family with a couple of the previous brother's stories, so we already knew we were going to love Riley, we just didn't know exactly how much. He's sweet, he's kind and underneath all of the glitz and glamour, he's just a real guy hoping for a happy ending just like the rest of us. I was especially touched by the scenes depicting his closeness with their Mom that we've heard so much about. Great story! Riley Shaughnessy went out and made that rock star name for himself that he always dreamed of, but when it came time that he wanted a break and wanted to tone it back a bit to a more laid back approach to his music, he had the horrible luck of hitting a slump! He's at a loss of what to do to get his mojo back again, when he's faced with being forced to do a big interview or catch a fit from his record label. Savannah Daly enjoys her job as an entertainment reporter, but she isn't blown away by the typical egotistical rock stars, so when she's handed Riley as an assignment, she's not exactly thrilled. She sets out to do her job and get it done ... but there's much more to Riley than she ever expected! Will a month spent with the big Shaughnessy brood have her wishing she were an honorary member?

I am in love with Riley and Savannah!! This story was fun, sweet and at times heartbreaking! I am not a big fan of rock star romances but I have to say this is not your normal rock star romance. Riley is a sweet, normal guy who loves his family and hasn't fallen into the "typical" rockstar status. Savannah is the reporter who has to do an artical on this rockstar she doesn't know or like and she's the perfect person to get Riley back on the stage again. I laughed, got frustrated with them and even shed a few tears but the ending was AWESOME!! Highly recommended read!
Bette313 More than 1 year ago
Another amazing story in this series! Riley by far is the most charismatic of the Shaughnessy family and while each of the family was affected by the loss of his mother, Riley had a very special place in his heart for her. She was the one that always encouraged his music. She believed in him no matter what. So this latest bout of writers block is hard for him to deal with. He's always had music. If that leaves him what does he have left?? Savannah Daly is a reporter who has interviewed all sorts of musicians. Riley Shaughnessy isn't anything special to her. In fact, she questions his true talent. Now though she has been given a month long assignment to get to know him and write a behind the scenes type story. Spending time with Riley shows her parts of him she never would have guessed existed. The attraction between them is strong but getting involved with him would be wrong. Or would it?? Definitely a recommended read!

Out of all of Samantha Chase's amazing books, THIS IS OUR SONG is my absolute favorite!!! The Shaughnessys are my surrogate family, I want to be one so badly! Hooking up with Riley would be my dream, but he is taken by the simply wonderful, Savannah. Riley knew he had everything going for him in his musical world. As front man of one of the world's most famous bands, SHAUGHNESSY, he had everything and everyone at his beck and call. When he decided to embark on his solo project and froze, he panicked. Savannah knew she was a great reporter, but only had the desire to write and report on folks in the music industry who spoke to her spirit, and Riley Shaughnessy wasn't on that list. When Riley and Savannah are thrown together in a professional capacity, it isn't long before their attraction, flirtation, friendship and frivolous fun have them realizing that their connection might be much more personal than they bargained for…especially when they journey home to see Riley's family in North Carolina! Memories of the past make incredible characters in Samantha's Shaughnessy Brothers Series on their own merits. Rest assured the memories in this perfect book had me in tears. So yes, you must indulge in this sexy, musical escape and lose yourself in the delicous Riley!! Thank you so much, Samantha Chase, for executing a perfect story!!!!!

This Is Our Song,  Samantha Chase Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:   Romance I was sure I’ve read and loved some of Samantha's novels before, her name seemed familiar and this novel is in one of my favourite tropes, the Rock-star one. Well, its a decent read but not one to heat my blood, not the five star full of drama one I love :-( but still a warm, feel-good romance if thats what you want. Its a good storyline, but everything just feels a little too pat for me, a bit predictable. The characters were all so nice, no nasties to balance it out – maybe if I’d read earlier ones about the family, I hadn’t realised it was one of those family centred novels – I’d have known what to expect but... Though everything was laid out well, plot wise,  there wasn’t a trail that made me want to see where it goes. Like the difference between a hidden woodland path where you’re never sure whets round the next tree, and a municipal park where there are no surprises, it looks really neat and tidy but everything is there in front of you, labelled and made safe, no need to explore, no hidden possible dangers...that's how I felt here. It was things like the way he broke out of the writing slump, the song he chose at a certain point – I could see them coming a long way off. It worked well, but didn't provide any real excitement. I needed to have some doubt, some reason to believe that Riley and Savannah were going to have a crashing fall out, that there's some almost insurmountable barrier to them being happy, and though there was a split of course, I didn’t feel it really was serious enough.  Loved the family, loved the idea of the interview with the reclusive, hiding, maybe out-for-the-count rock star but in practice it just became for me a sweet read, not the heart stopper I was hoping for.   Stars: three and a half, a good read, but no real surprises or dramas for me. Overpowering, possessive and sensitive. What else would be expected from a Shaughnessy. They are over achievers who live life to the fullest and love as hard as they work. Riley has all of these traits with an extra dose of charisma and insecurity that he keeps close to the vest, but when Savannah walks into his world and takes up residence in his heart, his sensors hit overdrive really fast. There are a number of reasons why I go fanatic over Ms. Chase's stories, mainly her family inspired tales. She does something I have not seen many authors do. Exposes the drama slowly from the inside out. In my experience that gives an easier understanding of who the character is. Riley is a rockstar but all the fame in the world does not make up for the heartbreaking loss he still struggles with. The measure of a man is not the secrets he keeps but the vulnerabilities he exposes. That is what makes connecting with Riley relatable to me as a reader.
