A group of school kids go on a field trip to a dinosaur museum; however, they end up actually visiting the time of the dinosaurs before returning home to the present. The book would be a nice read for an introduction to a project or unit on dinosaurs.

I really enjoyed this book and I know that young children would find it exciting. There is a class that wants to go to a Dinosaur Monument, but instead the train takes them to see real dinosaurs and they stay there for a few days and study the different dinosaurs. This would be a great read aloud, and a book to be read when studying dinosaurs.

Summary: This book is about a class who is going to Utah on a train - taking a field trip- to Utah! They are wanting to go and learn about the pre-historic era with all the dinosaurs and everything, but when they get to the train station and tell the man they want to do this, he changes their ticket from limited to unlimited so that they get to literally travel back in time and see real live dinosaurs. The teacher was not happy about this but the kids had a blast! It is a great story for kids to read!GEnre: Science FictionMedia: Water Color

The illustrations in this book do help move the plot along and provide the reader with more understanding. Sadly, the illustrations do not contain the amount of detail that could have been included. This book is also a good example of science fiction, because it involves the technology of a train that goes back into time. It also has students living with dinosaurs.

Great book for dinosaur study. Probably better suited for k-2 in terms of historical figures within the book. I happen to really enjoy the story and the imagination that went into this book.

My four year old daughter and I both really enjoy this book and we have read it together enumerable times. I would recommend the paperbook edition, however. In the hardbound much of the wonderful pictures are lost in the binding.
