Selah is haunted by strange dreams.
But it is her waking nightmare that frightens her most.

The tsunami during the Time of Sorrows came with a ferocious silence. The seas pulled back from the shore, gathered their strength and their fury, and attacked without warning on a bright, clear day.

To Selah Rishon Chavez, the troubling dreams she has of this event cannot take her mind off her own dismal reality. As her eighteenth Birth Remembrance approaches, she's just weeks away from an arranged marriage to a young man she doesn't even know. To top it off, she's been barred from moving about the settlement unescorted, her father and brothers meet her questions with indifferent silence or outright lies, and her mother is powerless to intervene.

Tremors invites you to experience the time leading up to Thunder--as one girl prepares to take her future into her own hands.

Bonnie S. Calhoun is the author of Thunder and Lightning, the first two books in the Stone Braide Chronicles. She loves to write, but it doesn't make her happy unless there are the three Bs: body count, blood, and blowing things up. She also has mad skills at coding HTML and website design. Bonnie lives in a log cabin in the woods with fifteen acres and a pond full of bass. But she'd rather buy fish, ready to eat and under plastic, at the grocery store. She shares her domain with a husband, a dog, and two cats, all of whom think she is waitstaff. Learn more at

Tremors is a short prequel to the forthcoming Stone Braide Chronicles. I enjoyed getting a sneak peek into this series and meeting some of the characters who I'm sure I'll be reading more about in the rest of the series. Selah is going to be a great main character. She's bold and a little angsty, which is always a fun combination. Selah's parents and brothers were interesting as well. I was also surprised (pleasantly!) at how much action was incorporated in these 28 pages——an arranged marriage, a murder, and some serious subterfuge. I think it's important to note that this is a prequel and pretty much leaves readers hanging. I assume that Thunders (the first book in the series) will pick up where Tremors leaves off. I'm extremely curious to see how this series will play out. Great beginning! [4 stars]

This is a short introduction to the first book in this series Thunder (Stone Braide Chronicles #1). It dives right into the beginning of what sounds to be an incredible series. Fantasy fans are sure to love this short yet intriguing beginning to a very promising journey. Get comfortable as you are immersed into a dystopian version of our world. You will want to hold on tight because I have a feeling this is going to be one wild ride. Selah is nearing her eighteenth birthday, but it’s not something that she is looking forward to. Instead of this being a time of celebration, it is for her a time of grieving and dread. Her father is marrying her off to a complete stranger, and he intends on isolating her for the last few months which is making her wish her birthday would never arrive. While she has been used to the freedom of roaming her home and surrounding lands, she is now being cruelly confined to the house which is just adding insult to injury. It’s not until she overhears something she was never met to listen to that she begins to see glimpses into what her life will become and what her society is truly like. It rips her heart in two to see a side of her father that she never knew existed and desperately wished she didn’t know anything about. After she witnesses this shocking revelation, she is determined to find out everything she can not only about her future but about the mysteries that she now knows exists all around her. Even with this very small glimpse into her life, I am anxious to learn everything I can about Selah and her world. I look forward to reading Thunder as this short intro has just wet my appetite for more of this unique and deadly world. She is a strong willed girl, and I fear that she may cause herself more grief then she will be able to deal with on her own. Nonetheless, her story is one that I can can’t wait to read about! Bonnie S. Calhoun has me hooked, and I plan on diving into the first book as soon as I can. Her writing is rich and compelling. She effortlessly draws you in and captivates you with her characters strength and mystery. This is one story that I know I will enjoy immensely!

All the elements of an exciting dystopian are here. Fiesty main character. Her lack of choice. The struggle to survive in a post apocalyptic society. And many burning unanswered questions. Calhoun has set us up for a wild ride. Looking forward to Thunder.
