Overview

After a short, troubled marriage Trenton Lindsey, heir to the Wilton earldom, finds himself a widower with three small children. His year of mourning leaves him adrift, until his brother Darius forces him to take a repairing lease in Surrey. Social conventions require Trent to call on his recently widowed neighbor, Elegy Hampton, Lady Rammel, and as friendship develops, consolation of an intimate sort tempts them both. Just as Trent acknowledges the joy and pleasure to be shared with Ellie, an unseen enemy threatens him and Ellie, too. Can he reach for the love Ellie offers, when some one else is trying to take his life?

Trenton Lindsey, Viscount Amherst is a widower, his wife having passed away well over a year ago. His family is worried about him as he seems to be having a rough time getting over his wife's death. He looks tired and listless all the time and has lost a good deal of weight. He has sent his children to his sister home for the summer and he is retiring to his summer place. Trent has decided to pay his neighbor, Viscountess "Ellie" Rammel a visit as she also has recently become a widow. Her husband was thrown from his horse and died of a broken neck. Although they were married for several years, they have no children. However, Ellie did take in a "by-blow" of her husband's and it raising the child. and she has recently discovered that she is expecting. Trent is drawn to the widow and she to him. Being very much a gentleman, Trent tries to keep their friendship platonic, however Ellie sets out to seduce Trent. Its a wonderful love story with several other plots going at the same time. It seems that someone is out to kill Trent and then there is the problem of his father, his in-laws, his deceased wife. There is a lot going on and several mysteries that need solving. The book is well written, great characters, and visits from characters of previous books. I love the story line and the action. Its also a fun love story. All in all a great read.

This is a really good read. A nice way to spend a day at the pool or beach. Characters are likable, and you get some characters from other Lonely Lords books as well as references to the Westmorelands.

This was a great read with characters you could really care about, great secondary characters, and a novel plot. Who could ask for anything more?

I'm so happy I only bought one of these books. Although in the beginning I thought the characters would be interesting it quickly devolved to no storyline other than page after page of sex.

As Trent and Ellie are both coming to terms with their widowed states, they find comfort in each other. These characters are complicated and interesting and you come to care about their lives. Guilt, remorse, alcoholism, parenting, forgiveness, suspicion, and others I'm forgetting all get a workout. And an HEA.

Grace never fails. Every story. I always find myself tear up and smile at the end. Trent & Ellie, what a lovely couple. And such a fun beginning to their relationship. Trent is just getting his life together after his wifes passing. And Ellie is finding happiness in her life after her husbands passing. Highly recommend this one.

This is one of my favorite authors. I love the Windham series, and I like this series too. This is a good book. Likable characters, good chemistry, good storyline, a bit somber. I enjoyed it, and look forward to the next one.
