’Twas the evening of Christmas, when all through the town,
Every inn was so crowded, no room could be found.
Tired Mary and Joseph, who went door to door,
At last found a place on a small stable floor.

The True Story! Delightful and charming. Those things will come to mind when you read this Christmas book. Written similar to the style and rhythm of Clement Moore’s, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, this children’s book tells the actual story of Jesus’ birth. This fun to read poem will capture the attention of boys and girls. They will have fun rolling the rhymes off their tongues while hearing the story of that long-ago night. Captivating illustrations will also catch their eye. The picture that shows the view the angels must have had while in the night sky is lovely. But I also liked the Wise Men; Mary, Joseph and Jesus together; the angels appearing in the sky; the front cover; the back cover; they are all good. You will have to get the book yourself and decide which picture you like the best! ‘Twas the Evening of Christmas is an attractive hardback book, over-sized with embossing, gold foil and rich colors decorating the book’s cover. Every page contains colorful pictures and is geared toward children aged four to eight years old. However, much younger children will enjoy looking at this book, and having the story read to them. In the same way, children older than eight will also like viewing this volume. ‘Twas the Evening of Christmas is a 2018 ECPA Christian Book Award Finalist. What better way for children to learn the true Christmas story than with a catchy rhyme. I highly recommend this beautiful children’s book to everyone who enjoys Christmas stories. A great tradition could be started by reading this book to the child in your life every Christmas season. Glenys Nellist has taken the classic rhythm and story of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and given us a wonderful way to share the story of Jesus' birth with our children. In 'Twas the Evening of Christmas, your child will be taken on a journey through scripture. Nellist brings the birth of Jesus to life in a way that will make you think you were there too. Just reading the story to myself, I was transported to the stable, with reminders of the noises of the animals and the emotions of the new parents. With sweet illustrations to help bring the story to life, I know this will be a cherished book we bring out each year at Christmas. I loved the nods in several of the paragraphs back towards the classic poem we all know. Nellist has a way of sharing the story of Jesus seamlessly - getting all the facts in place, and at the same time engaging the imagination. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.

'Twas The Evening Of Christmas is the story of the night of when Jesus was born. Closely following the poem of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas by Dr. Clement C. Moore, instead of focusing on Santa, it focuses on baby Jesus. With a closer look at that fateful night, the story of baby Jesus comes alive in a new prospective of what happened that beautiful night in Bethlehem! I loved this book for the story that is of when Jesus was born. I thought the whole telling the story like, Twas The Night Before Christmas was totally perfection and it makes you see that night in a whole new light! It was beautifully written and the illustrations were spot on for the most perfect story to tell on Christmas eve! Thank You to Glenys Nellist for putting a new spin on a classic tale that I hope will be as successful as Twas The Night Before Chirstmas!! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Edelweiss!
