Excellent cook book but the eBook version has problems. Often the amounts are printed as question marks in the directions! This is sometimes found where there is no list of ingredients to refer to for the amounts or when only part of the full amount is to be used. If you're confident with your own cooking judgement you can fill in the ? but for many this will be extremely annoying and prevent you from making some of the recipes.

While 'Vegan with a Vengeance' and 'Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World' are also excellent cookbooks, if you are only going to buy one VEGANOMICON is perfect. Trying out any new recipe can be scary, but the recipes in this cookbook are delicious. I am using ingredients/spices that are new to me, but am always confident the food will taste great. The recipes use simple easy to find ingredients and don't take a lot of time to prepare yet result in meals that look and taste 'gourmet'. You won't just be assembling processed ingredients here but will easily prepare great tasting meals with fresh ingredients and little effort. The creators of this cookbook have done all the work for you, combining flavors I wouldn't have thought of, resulting in foolproof meals that are unbelievably good. Most people won't even know the meals are vegan. VEGANOMICON has come along just in time for the holiday season. Get this cookbook and wow your family and friends with some really fantastic meals. The Smlove Pie 'p 257' is off the charts!! This cookbook has loads of useful information, a good balance of flavorful recipes for all occasions, and a bit of humor to make it all fun. VEGANOMICON is the ultimate cookbook, whether you are vegan or not. BUY IT ... you won't be dissapointed.

The 1st weekend after purchasing this book 'along with Vegan with a Vengeance' I tried not one, not two, but count it, FOUR recipes. They were all delicious. What have I been cooking for all of these years? I¿m new to vegetarianism, and with the help of this book, I¿ll never eat meat again. I can¿t imagine there being a better vegan cook book out there.

Like Moskowitz's other cookbooks, Veganomicon has a wide variety of recipes, and includes a lot of helpful hints to use along the way. For non-vegan cooks, some of the ingredients or combinations might sound odd. My recommendation would be to try them anyway - Moskowitz has a talent for recipes that sound strange, but are delicious! Veganomicon has some advantages compared to other cookbooks - for one, the recipes are labeled with the approximate amount of time it takes to make them, which can be extremely helpful. This book also includes an index in the back with the recipes arranged by preparation time.

I just made the potato and kale enchiladas (page 162) and vanilla-yogurt pound cake on pag. 254. They both were a big success in my family who are not even trying to be vegans. Full of flavor, very satisfying. If you want to change your eating habits even if you don't want to 'convert', this is a great choice.

This is a must have cookbook for anyone toying with the idea of becoming a vegan and also for those already vegan. Easy directions, wonderful flavors and easy substitutions and best of all, everything I've tried is delicious.

I am a huge fan of Isa Moskowitz and Vegan with a Vengeance, so adding Veganomicon to my library was a no-brainer. The tips and hints are very reliable and the seasonings are spot on. I have a lot of vegetarian and vegan cookbooks that have hit the mark with appearance and texture, but the flavors leave something to be desired. Veganomicon recipes prove that depth in vegan dishes is not difficult to achieve.

There are a TON of recipes in this book that are amazing. Although I have not tried every single one of them (I know people who have) each recipe has something different. The instructions can sometimes be a little confusing with the added wit and quips. In this book there is something for everyone. It has also helped me find yummy things to eat after I recently found out about my allergies to wheat and eggs. Being it is a vegan cookbook I don't have to worry about the eggs but mostly every recipe that calls for flour can be substituted with a gluten free all purpose baking mix. Everything is full of intense flavor and it's hard not to want to try everything in this book.

I love the author's site, so I thought I would check out their book, 'Veganomicon.' The first recipe I tried out was the Banana Nut Waffles. They are probably my most favorite vegan breakfast food of all time. The chickpea cutlets are also wonderful...especially if you make the mustard sauce to go with them. The authors also start the book listing some kitchen essentials and defining some terms, which I have already found incredibly helpful as I am not a cooking pro. I definitely recommend this book to anyone (vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore). The recipes are quite simple, and they are so delicious, that my omnivore husband can't tell there aren't eggs or dairy in any of the dishes. Enjoy!!!

Haven't had a chance to make a recipe yet, but have read thru the book. Can't wait to try it. What i really like about the cookbook is that there are some simple recipes to try but also fancy schmancy ones for when i'm ready for the challenge.

Pros: --Delicious, well written recipes for the new and seasoned vegan --Beautiful cover that looks good displayed --Basic "how to be a vegan" info like creating whole proteins and how to soak beans --Excellent table of contents arranged by meal and type of dish (apps, entres, sides, etc.) Cons: --Few photos --thinish matte pages that get messy quickly if you have it near your worksurface We have been vegetarian for 29 years, vegan on and off for 5, and now use this book 3 to 5 times a week to to help stay with it. Would recommend and buy again.

I ordered this book online and immediately upon receiving it, fell in love. The cover art is incredible (which I realize isn't a necessity when selecting a book, but having a piece of eye candy for your shelf is always a welcomed bonus) and I enjoy having it on display. It's contents are very well organized and easy to read, even labeled for quick identification when you're browsing through it. The only downside is I wish it included more pictures of the food, but those it does have are amazing. This book is a must for any vegan, whether they enjoy cooking frequently or only on occasion, there's something in this book for you.

We are vegetarians and are leaning toward becoming vegans, and this book is great for people thinking about a life-style change such as this.

I bought this book months ago and am only now starting to cook from it, the perils of owning too many cookbooks. Snobby Joes, potato and kale enchiladas, manzana chile verde, and so many more! Love it all so far. I am especially excited to try her tamale masa over Thanksgiving.

This was a gift from a relative. It's apparent she thinks the world of me, for this is one of the best cookbooks I own. Every recipe I've tried has been a huge success. Favorites include the chickpea cutlets and the seitanic red and white bean jambalaya. Impressive recipes and great results.

My daughter learned to cook vegan from a roommate who used this book. The roommate loved this book and my daughter thought it was great for a beginner and one who was an experienced vegan cook. She was thrilled to get it for Christmas.

I'm tranzitioning to vegan and all the recipes I've seen so far are complicated but this book is just amazing. Can't wait to start trying all the yummy sounding recipes.

This book has become a go-to for me when I need information on all things vegan. The chapters before the actual recipes are informative and gives the reader an easy how-to when it comes to living and cooking vegan as well as giving overall kitchen how-to's (e.g. how to properly cut an onion without crying, etc). Not all recipes are last minute, use everything in your pantry and throw together - some require planning ahead - but it's a worthwhile purchase.

Seriously considering going full Vegan as a result of these recipes.
