Overview

Bill Belichick is one of the titans of today’s game of football. Now, sports commentator and bestselling author Michael Holley follows three NFL teams—the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Falcons—from training camp 2010 through the Super Bowl and into the April draft, opening a new window into Belichick’s influence on the game. This one-of-a-kind exploration takes football fans behind the scenes of the most popular sport in America, with unprecedented insider access to the head coaches, scouts, trainers, and players who make the game what it is—including new insights from Bill Parcells, Todd and Dick Haley, and Belichick himself. For true fans of the game, and for readers of Badasses, Patriot Reign, and Boys Will Be Boys, Holley’s War Room is not to be missed.

It's a good read but unless your a Patriots fan (I am not) it's not sensational by any means. The only real issue I had with this book is the author comes across as to homer-ish on some occasions. For instance anything that Patriots did something bad or lost there were excuses.

This was a well written albeit very focused story on the NFL drafting process as practiced by 3 different teams with deep roots to Bill Bellicheck. The details we super and the pace and subject matter always interesting without bogging down. If you are a NFL draft-nik this book is for you

Unfortunately, the level of excellence achieved by the New England Patriots does not translate to this book. I was hoping for specific outlines and philosophies of their winning formula, but found a poorly written accounting of relationships. Don't bother, not even a good read about inside a football team. Must have been written in two days.
