Overview

The only thing Rowan Beale ever wanted was to be a cop. But in the wake of her partner's death, she still hasn't been cleared to return to duty. Amid rumors of PTSD and struggling under the weight of survivor's guilt, she's starting to believe she never will be. Already at loose ends, when her Uncle Robert has a heart attack, she doesn't hesitate to go to Wishful to take care of him.

Reserve officer Nash Brewer is a born care-taker, so of course he pitches in after his neighbor and mentor has heart surgery. But it's not just the former Wishful Police Chief who needs his help. Robert's strong, gutsy niece is hurting and haunted--and someone's been targeting her. Nash can't help but fall as he and Rowan investigate, while keeping the secret from her fragile, but sharp-eyed uncle.

When evidence points to Rowan herself as the perpetrator, the former Navy pilot knows in his gut there's something more going on. But how can he ignore the facts of the case? And how can Rowan stand for one more person to believe she's unstable, especially the man she wants to trust with her heart?

This is a Wishing for a Hero Novella. You should expect a quick read, a fast-moving adventure in Wishful that's a complete and satisfying story--no cliffhangers here!--and a "happy for now" ending. Grab a glass of sweet tea and enjoy!

This is another really great story in our small town of Wishful. A great plot of murder, mystery, suspense, romance, and drama. The characters are well developed, intriguing and likable. The plot is well written, fast paced and will keep your interest until the very end. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next in this series.

ARC for honest review with no compensation, received from Booksprout Watch Over Me is book 2 in Wishing for a Hero series by Kaitlin Nolan and is another well written, suspenseful, page turner book! Rowen Beale is a police officer in Houston and after her partner is killed she accuses another officer as being a "dirty cop" but of course IA thinks she is suffering from PTSD and she has to a get help before she is released back to work. Little does she know that a lot of people are working against her and facilitating the PTSD, which she may not be suffering from...so when her great uncle suffers a heart attack she decides to take leave and take care of him but trouble follows her back home. Nash Brewer, a retired Navy pilot, part time reserve officer and a caring neighbor for Rowen's uncle meets Rowen again and the attraction he felt for her from before is still there. He is determined to pursue her but she is determined to get her life back and return to Houston as a police officer with no attachments to anyone. That is until trouble comes to town that she thought was only in Houston..will she let Nash help her discover who is behind her troubles and bring them to justice, show her she belongs in town and with him forever or will she just let the bad guys win and lose the one thing she has always wanted..to be a police officer??

Another Wishful Hit! The story about Rowan and Nash was fun to follow. The trauma that Rowan went through was heart wrenching but it was wonderful that she was able to find someone to share her story with and to “relieve some stress.” Nash’s sense of humor and care were better than I expected. (I’d love to hear his story!) He was able to help Rowan in both matters of life and love. I loved that Rowan was a strong, honest woman. She stuck to her story even though at times she questioned herself. She also figured out that relying on someone does not make you weak but actually makes you stronger. Love all the Wishful stories — would love to read a story that has a follow up to all of the “love stories” and what happens to our heroines and heros after “happily ever after.” I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As always, would love for the story to be longer because they seem to be over way too soon (but in a good way) Rowan is a Houston cop on leave because of what she heard when her partner died. No one believes her in Houston and her family doesn't know. When her beloved great uncle, Wishful's retired Police Chief has a heart attack, Nash (pilot and part time police officer) flies her to Wishful. Nash acts on his feelings toward Rowan while helping her when her past follows her from Texas. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Love the small town mystery/romance

Kait Nolan takes us back to Wishful in this romantic suspense that features Rowan Beale and Nash Brewer. Rowan is a police officer who is not yet over her partner's death. Nash is her neighbor and a former Navy pilot who works part time as a police officer. Nash wants to help Rowan, he wants to be her friend. Rowan has to work twice as hard as the men in her field because she is a woman. Trouble follows Rowan when she makes a move to Wishful from Houston and Nash is there. This story is romantic suspense that keeps your attention the entire time you are reading it. I can't wait for more.

I have to say I have fallen in love with small, Southern town life both in Wishful and where I moved two years ago. Wishful is so like where I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Kait Nolan has that small town down pat. I was so excited to read Watch Over Me. I always wonder how city folk adapt to living, even if only for a while, to small town life. Rowan definitely gave me a taste for what that must be like while she was in Wishful from Houston to help take care of family. I also have to say I am now looking forward to reading more about Wishful and another transplant in a next book from Nolan. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Watch Over Me, the newest novella by Kait Nolan, is a great beginning to a Wishful spin-off series. A female police officer suffering from PTSD, and as if that wasn’t enough, there are people trying to convince her she is crazy. A retired Navy Pilot who has dealt with PTSD in his past. And a grumpy great Uncle recovering from open heart surgery. Great story that draws you in, I had a hard time putting it down, I wanted more. I really liked this book! Unlike some of the other Wishful and small-town romance books that Nolan writes, this one incorporated a bit of suspense and mystery, which I thought gave the book an added layer of depth and intrigue. I thought the characters were great -- strong and vulnerable at the same -- and the story line had some really nice twists. Because it was so short, it was a quick and easy read, but covered a lot of great content in few pages. This was definitely one of my favorites!

Being a cop in big city Houston and trying to prove a dirty cop in the department is less than a popular place to be among your brothers in blue. Not being able to let it go after her partner is killed in a setup to look like an arrest gone bad Rowan finds herself being harassed and bullied. Not being able to return to work until she passes a psych evaluation where the therapist insists she has PTSD. She is forced to take a leave from her duties. Find out how ex military Nash enters her life! Will he believe her? Will she prove she isn’t crazy, and bring the dirty cop to justice? Will she ever get her job back? And will there be sparks between Nash and Rowan to ignite a fire? Buy the book and find out! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A short but well developed novella. I love romantic suspense books and this one really delivered. Rowan and Nash have immediate sparks. They were both strong individuals and brought out the softer side of each other. Love Wishful. Great spin off series.

"Watch over me" is an intriguing mix of romance, action, suspense, steam, and spark. Everybody needs a hero or heroes in their life especially when the going gets rough and Nash is as good as it can get. Definitely a great read. Another hit by Kait Nolan. I truly enjoyed reading this book about Rowan and Nash. Rowan Beale always dreamed of being a cop and fulfilled her dream in Houston. However, after her partner was killed while they were on duty, Rowan seems to never be able to stop blaming herself and eventually comes to the realization that someone else was to blame for this and she goes against a fellow Houston Police officer. This puts her in a bad situation and when her uncle, who is Chief of Wishful, falls ill and needs someone to care for him, Rowan’s parents ask his next door neighbor (Nash) to pick Rowan up in Houston and bring her to Wishful. Nash is a former Navy pilot and is now a part-time police office as well as a private pilot. Nash shows Rowan that he does believe her and she feels that she can truly trust someone and divulges the truth to him about her partner’s death and what she believes caused it. Although Nash believes Rowan, things happen which cause him to doubt her a little but he is soon convinced that she definitely might be right. He helps her to get to the bottom of her partner’s death and at the same time demonstrates to her that being a small town cop is truly a great experience and that it would give her the sense of family that she truly wants in her everyday life as well as in her profession.

Rowan is a strong female lead character. She has gone through a traumatic event with the loss of her partner. I knew that her and Nash were connected the moment he believed all the harassment she had experienced on her job. Nash seemed like he was a laid back guy. I liked seeing that he so much more. The two lead characters were good together and I enjoyed the suspense of the story. It was great to get a little different view of Wishful. I found out that I like the more suspenseful set of stories set in Wishful as well as Kait Nolan's lighter Wishful series. I hope there will be more in this series. I received an advance copy for an honest review.

I love Wishful, and I love this opportunity that took me back there. This story has all the sweet southern charm I’ve come to expect as well as a darker, more action-packed twist. The one thing Wishful never lacks is connection: the sparks between Rowan and Nash just about singed my fingers while reading this. Rowan’s got a lock on ‘independent tough girl’, especially while her professional life may be falling apart around her. She doesn’t need anybody’s help. No way. No how. Nash is all protective alpha male, but he’s got a nurturing streak a mile wide. I loved watching how carefully he looked out for Rowan without stomping all over her independence. The only complaint I have is that it’s over already. I would have happily read hundreds of words more about Rowan, Nash, and all the rest of Wishful. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book via Booksprout.

Watch Over Me is another terrific book by the very talented Kait Nolan. Rowan is an emotionally fragile character but she is strong and determined at the same time. Nash is a real man-- strong, capable, tender, and caring. He isn't afraid of emotions and knows Rowan needs TLC as much as Robert does. Together they make a dynamic, awesome couple. Watch Over Me is well-written with characters I truly cared about. I enjoyed watching Rowan and Nash build a relationship and look forward to seeing them again in future stories. I would like to live in a town like Wishful.

I always enjoy a mystery and Watch Over Me had my interest from the start. Rowan comes to Wishful to take care of her great uncle at a time of great turmoil in her life. She needs to get her life back on track and figure out is she can still be a cop or is she truly not fit for duty. Not wants to be there and support her but he begins to have doubts about her stability. Is she suffering from PTSD or is someone out to get her. I don’t like a review that give away the entire storyline so you’ll just have to take my word fo it, Watch Over Me is a great read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
