Overview

Charming, poignant, and sexy, When You Got a Good Thing pulled me in with its sweet charm and deft storytelling, and didn't let go until the very last page. It has everything I love in a small-town romance! ~USA Today Best-Selling Author Tawna Fenske

She thought she could never go home again. Kennedy Reynolds has spent the past decade traveling the world as a free spirit. She never looks back at the past, the place, or the love she left behind—until her adopted mother's unexpected death forces her home to Eden's Ridge, Tennessee.

Deputy Xander Kincaid has never forgotten his first love. He's spent ten long years waiting for the chance to make up for one bone-headed mistake that sent her running. Now that she's finally home, he wants to give her so much more than just an apology.

Kennedy finds an unexpected ally in Xander, as she struggles to mend fences with her sisters and to care for the foster child her mother left behind. Falling back into his arms is beyond tempting, but accepting his support is dangerous. He can never know the truth about why she really left. Will Kennedy be able to bury the past and carve out her place in the Ridge, or will her secret destroy her second chance?

Kait Nolan wrote ,an excellent story. It is complete to the end and I did not miss the epilogue. This was not a cliffhanger. The story is well written and I found myself part of the story. Kennedy and Xander found each other decades ago. In their youth, they developed an all encompassing relationship that people still gossipped about ten years after Kennedy left town. Today Kennedy was back, full of regrets, because her mother had died before she returned home. Xander mourned for Kenedy's loss and wondered if she could ever forgive him for causing her to run off. I loved this story. I could not put it down. I found myself cheering Kennedy on as she faced life with courage, spirit, and compassion. I highly recommend this story.

I bought this book basically because it was free and sounded like a good storyline. I have since bought the entire Misfit Inn series and am equally in love with every single one of them! The author really nailed it with this series. I love how the characters are developed and all somehow intertwined. There's twist and turns and it just makes it such a fun, interesting, can't put down kind of read. I highly recommend When You Got a Good Thing, but be forewarned, you will not be able to put it down and you will want to purchase the rest of the series! I am also starting the new series from this author because I absolutely love how she writes.

GJRA. I love this romance, cried & smiled a bit thru the 165 pages. It was a lot sad at times but everything worked out in the end for a happy ending. Got really mad at 3 of the main characters but again a really happy ending. Kait Nolan is a talented writer. Wish she would finish with epilogues to her books, plus they could be longer. GJRA

When You Got A Good Thing by Kait Nolan is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms Nolan has delivered a well-written book. The characters are realistic and lovable. Kennedy and Xander's story is full of drama, suspense, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading When You Got A Good Thing and look forward to reading more from Kait Nolan in the future. When You Got A Good Thing is book 1 of The Misfit Inn Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

A great beginning to a new series! This latest book by Ms. Nolan had me crying almost from the start, with plenty of chuckles as well...and ran the gamut of emotions throughout! I loved reading this start to The Misfit Inn, and cannot wait for the next one! Please note: I received an eBook copy for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Well, Kail Nolan has done it again with this new series set in Eden's Ridge, Tennessee! In the first book we are introduced to the adopted daughters of Joan Reynolds after she suddenly dies in a car accident. Kennedy Reynolds left her home, her family, and the love of her life right after high school graduation and this is her first return. Kennedy has grown and matured as she traveled the world, but coming home is more of a challenge than Kennedy realized. Get ready for a ride as she deals with the anger of her sisters, wades through the quagmire of her mothers finances, figures out how to keep the youngest of Joan's girls from going back into the system, and deals with the fact that she never stopped loving Xander Kincaid. You will fall in love with the Ridge and the people as you watch Deputy Xander Kincaid uncover the real reason Kennedy left him all those years ago. Watch them prove that a real love survives everything. I received an ARC of this book, but my review is my own honest opinion, freely given.

I loved this book! ❤ Kennedy and Xander are perfect together. Their relationship has a solid foundation of friendship to keep it strong. Their journey to overcome the obstacle that separated them is believable. They worked through the problems and came through stronger than when they started. Xander is such a sweet, strong, moral man. He isn't like so many H's because he never feels the need to prove his manhood.by acting macho. He proves his manliness with everything he does. Kennedy has low self-esteem--especially around her sisters. She works hard to prove herself and finally realizes she isn't unworthy. That she has a lot to offer. It was a joy to see her grow in that way. Personally, I couldn't have forgiven the 'villain'. Forgiving gave Kennedy the closure she so desperately needed and I'm glad she was able to do it The secondary characters are well-developed and interesting. I'm really looking forward to seeing which one gets their story told next. If you enjoy well-written romances with well-developed characters, then definitely read When You Got A Good Thing. I am eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series.

STORY-LINE WHEN YOU GOT A GOOD THING BY KAIT NOLAN: In When You Got A Good Thing, author Kait Nolan created a family saga filled with family dynamics. A family not of blood but one made of misfit children. Kennedy Reynolds has run for 10 years from her home town of Eden's Ridge in the Great Smokey Mountains. She ran without explanation from her family or her high school love, Xander Kincaid. Now she is back in Eden's Ridge, ten years older, still in love with Xander, still scared, and mourning the unexpected death of her foster-mother, Joan. With the sisters at odds, Kennedy an outcast and resented, and Xander still in love with Kennedy, Eden's Ridge is hopping with action. Joan, foster-mother to many, in the process of adopting her last foster, Ari, dies before the adoption's completed. The sisters not only have relationship issues but must decide how they will care and provide for Ari. Will Xander and Kennedy heal old wounds? Can the sister's let go of the resentment they have harbored for ten years? What made Kennedy run from everything she held dear? My review of When You Got A Good Thing follows. CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT: Firstly let me say what a powerful family drama I found in Kait Nolan's latest book. Filled with emotions, misconceptions, resentment, forgiveness, and just plain old fright, Nolan grabbed me in the first few pages. I ran the gauntlet of emotions reading this book; from great sadness for the injustice Kennedy received to joy as she bonds with her new foster-sister and finds her place in the world. Kennedy's growth was wonderful as she stops seeing herself as a misfit, but as a talented strong woman; who finally stood up for herself. Kennedy also knew forgiveness was necessary to move forward as hatred would only destroy. Nolan portrayed the family dynamics and small town life expertly. She skillfully demonstrated families are not created by blood bonds only. These sisters will fight and disagree, when push comes to shove they are sisters of the spirit who love and care for each other. Guilt rode Xander for ten years; he blamed himself for Kennedy's desertion. The answers they all want will change many lives. Nolan shows how a person in power's decisions can be destructive as well as beneficial; decisions with life long consequences. Nolan skillfully shows love which is destined, can not be denied. With many plot threads to bring together, Nolan did so skillfully creating an intense romance drama. I found the pace steady and smooth, as the Nolan does not reveal Kennedy's secret until just the right moment. One I was not expecting; my guesses were way off base. In concluding my review of When You Got A Good Thing, I found an entertaining emotional story-line. I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend. WHEN YOU GOT A GOOD THING RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4 In addition, this story has a love scene which I did not feel was explicit or graphic; it was not offensive rather lovemaking between committed adults. I recommend When You Got A Good Thing for young adults and adults. FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE: Additionally, I received copy of this book and chose to voluntarily review the book with an honest review for romance novel, When You Got A Good Thing. Lastly, book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion. Consequently, all book reviews on-line and on my blog, are my opinions. In addition, no one influenced my review for romance

*Sigh* Be still my heart. Another hit outta the park for Kait Nolan's newest book-When You Got A Good Thing. The characters in this book are so real, you just feel like they could be people you know in your own life. I loved how the author didn't make everyone perfect-they all had their faults, and that only made me love them more. I had plans to only read for about an hour, but couldn't put the book down and finished it all in one day! It's a full length novel, no cliff hangers-definitely a winner!! I received an ARC of this book.

Totally LOVED this. Kait Nolan you have outdone yourself, this was awesome, the emotions and feelings this brought out has me totally hooked. There is so much going on this this story from misunderstandings, long held secrets to love and romance all in a large mixed family. Loving the first glimpse into the other characters and am looking forward to their stories and of course stories from within The Misfit Inn.

ARC for honest review with no compensation and what a way to start a new series, Kait Nolan! ! ! Wish you could give it more stars.... When You Got a Good Thing is about two young friends/lovers who end up star crossed at age 18 and now 10 years later meet up again at a funeral… Kennedy Reynolds has been on the “run” for the last 10 years, thru no fault of her own but the rest of her family do not know the “real reason” she left all those years ago. She has traveled all over the world and is living in Ireland doing a blog of her travels. She has always felt she was missing something but could never put her finger on what it was…..until she receives word that her “adopted” mother has passed away and she needs to return home to help her other “adopted sisters” but can she stay in the town permanently, move forward from what happened in the past and make things right with Xander??? (Mom was a foster parent who adopted four girls and was in the process of adopting another girl when she passed). Xander, who never left the town other than to go to college and return back to town to work in law enforcement is still angry at Kennedy after all these years but now that she has come back for the funeral he is determined to get his answers so he can move on with his life once and for all. When he sees her again the old feelings return but he tries to push them away….. As Xander and Kennedy try to work through the past and move on she also has to figure out how to make up with her sisters who still think she is a screw up with no formal education and meet the new sister who is having problems coming to grips with the death of her “foster mom” and worrying about what will happen to her now that she was never formally adopted….. So many sub plots in this story but they flow together to make you understand the working of the foster home known to them as the Misfit Inn that they grew up in, how each sister became who she is as an adult. how they will do anything to make a life for the young sister who was never fully adopted and for Kennedy to finally find out the “real truth” behind what happened 10 years ago and whether she and Xander can put the past behind and have a life together???? Once you start the book it grabs you in and you may need some tissues, but you will not be able to put it down until the very last word…..it is that good! ! !
