I've learned so much from this book. She touches on how God wants us to be a wife, a mom, a homemaker and then in ministry, somehow in our own small sphere of influence. She's amazing in that she can instruct so humbly. Love it!

My book is filled with yellow highlights and yellow tabs. This book has become a reference book for me. Because of this book I started having 20 minutes devotions every morning and am seeing God transform my life. I keep this book next to my morning devotion Bible and journal.

Really loved this one and intend to read it again. The book shows the authors sweet spirit and lovingly instructs on how to be a Christian wife/mom/single/woman according to the Bible.

Every Christian can find inspiration and education in Woman After God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth George. She focuses on how women can work on devoting time to God and make sure that He is number one in our lives. Some of the beginning of this book seems very obvious and straightforward, but there are a lot of tips in there that will help you to know how and want to devote more of our time to Christ. The second half of this book deals with how women are called to live their lives in devotion to Christ by living the way we were meant to. There are various topics discussed from how to be a good wife, a good mother, how to organize your house, how to devote your time to ministry, and how to be a good friend. I remember reading the first part of this book thinking how obvious it was, yet it was not what I was doing in my life. George made it easy to figure out how to get started on these tasks of prayer and reading my Bible more regularly. We often think we have to go travel to an Amazon jungle to spread the Gospel to be after God’s heart, but all He wants is time with us and the author provides lots of practical tips on how to make sure we are accomplishing it. It has been much easier to make time for these things in my life with the information I have found in the book. Like most modern women, it’s hard to often hear about how women are to clean the house, take care of a husband, and care for the kids. The way things used to be done is outdated, but the principles are not and George proves that here. The most helpful thing she explained was how to order our priorities to make sure we are doing what is most important. The Bible makes this list clear. While many may picture a woman waiting on her husband hand and foot, that is not the case here and there are many practical ways to make sure we are compromising and making the choices we should. George does seem to be a little “old fashioned” with how this may look for her, but I didn’t feel like my feminism was being beat over the head while reading and found it to be helpful. I wish there were more information for us single ladies in this book, but I have found it helpful to keep in mind dating as well. Overall, this is a must read for a Christian woman. We need to put God back in the number one spot, which is not where He is for most for us. There were so many good ideas for women in here such as reaching out to those in the body, how to better choices for ourselves and families, and how to grow in our ministry in a way that does not exhaust us. I found so much useful information and while I am sure my way of enacting it is different than the author, these are all principles we need to become familiar with and why they are this way Biblically so we know we are doing what we are supposed to do as Christian women.

This book was life-changing for me. I heard Elizabeth speak on this topic before she published the book- many years ago now. I was struggling with priorities as a young wife and mother. God greatly used her to open my eyes. She has truly been a mentor to me as I've grown as wife and mother. My husband can testify to the difference the principles in this book have made in our marriage and our home.

No other book, besides God's Holy Word, has been more of a blessing or has been as instrumental in my walk with God. Mrs. George doesnt give her opinions, but uses God's Word to teach her readers to be Women After God's Own Heart. She backs up God's Word with examples from her life and others' lives. She encourages the reader to continue in God's Word even when it isnt really liked and is more of a chore and like "cod liver oil," assuring that eventually it will be enjoyed and looked forward to like "peaches and cream."

I found this to be very helpful and relevant to me as a christian woman, wife and mother. There are things I will revisit in this text and lots of highlights in my bible. I have even bought my folders ;-)

I would give this book more stars if it was easier to read. The constant misspellings, especially in the titles of the chapters, were so distracting that I kept loosing my place. The nook version is horrible and I will be asking for my money back. This book is very helpful, and if you are even considering buying it please do. Just not on the nook.
